The Abydos team was a team created by the Starfleet Marine Corps to go through the Stargate in the event they were able to make it work.

History

Around 2381, over 22 years after the first Abydos team went through the Stargate, Colonel Everett Young would admit to O'Neill that the people stranded aboard Destiny were not qualified to be aboard the ship, O'Neill would retort that he himself didn't feel qualified enough to lead the Abydos team through the Stargate either but he did it.
