Another Time, Another Place is the 2nd episode of Star Trek: The New Voyages.
Synopsis[]
While exploring an uncharted sector of Federation space the crew of the USS Enterprise discovers a distress call on a Federation channel and its revealed to be from the long lost USS Anubis.

EXT. UNCHARTED SECTOR, SPACE [OPTICAL]
[STAR TREK FANFARE PLAYS]
The Enterprise travels through the uncharted sector as we see an interstellar dust cloud.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's log stardate 7123.4, We're currently on a deep space exploration mission mapping an uncharted sector of Federation space, this could go along way to colonizing the sector for future generations
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
The crew are at their stations working as Captain Branson sits in the Captain's chair reviewing a PADD from a Ensign and hands it to her.
CPT. BRANSON: A five-year mission is too short in my opinion.
LT. MITCHELL: Captain, my navigational sensors are detecting something.
CPT. BRANSON: What is it?
[BOOM!] As everyone braces themselves.
[KLAXONS BLARING]
CPT. BRANSON: What the hell was that?
Commander T'Lar taps commands into the science station but the side of the console explodes in sparks and flames as she backs up.
CDR. T'LAR: All sensor equipment malfunctional!
[BOOM!] As everyone's thrown to the deck.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise is rocked about by the whirlpool.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
Captain Branson crawls to the helm station and taps commands into it to move the ship out of the whirlpool due to Lieutenant Carlson being knocked out, as he fades into unconsciousness.

EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
[EPISODE NOTES: OPENING CREDITS FALL OVER OPENING SCENES]
The Enterprise is at station keeping.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
The unconscious staff is scattered around the bridge. Branson climbs to his feet rubs his head as he watches the others rise to their feet.
CPT. BRANSON: Check all internal systems, damage control teams submit damage reports to first officer.
LT. CARLSON: Helm control is restored sir.
LT. MITCHELL: Navigational systems are restored as well and whoa we're at least 200 light-years from our previous position.
CDR. T'LAR: Primary sensor array is offline but the emergency sensor array is online but we only have short range sensors.
Captain Branson toggles com panel.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson to sickbay Steven report.
DR. CARLSON [com voice]: Light causalities so far mostly from when we encountered the wave
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Keep me posted Steven. Bridge to engineering Steph what's the status of our engines?
LCDR. WILLIAMS [com voice]: Both warp and impulse engines are online sir but I've got a team to check on the impulse manifolds
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Keep me posted Steph, Branson out.
John ends the com chat and gets up from the Captain chair and walks over to the rail and faces T'Lar.
CPT. BRANSON: T'Lar, what did we pass through?
Commander T'Lar turns to face John.
CDR. T'LAR: We seemed to have encountered a strange whirlpool in space Captain and it rendered the main sensors offline but not our other systems.
CPT. BRANSON: How long will it take to repair the main sensor array?
CDR. T'LAR: One solar day.
CPT. BRANSON: Can you shave a day off it if you had Commander Williams help you?
CDR. T'LAR [raised an eyebrow]: It would be possible.
CPT. BRANSON: Get started we've got to find out where we are.
Commander T'Lar EXITS the bridge via the turbolift.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise travels through the uncharted sector at impulse.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
John sits at his desk reviewing the mission logs of Moonbase Alpha.
[READY ROOM DOORS CHIMED] As John drinks a cup of tea.
CPT. BRANSON: Come.
[READY ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Commander Ivanova enters holding a PADD.
CDR. IVANOVA: A progress report on repairs to the main sensor array.
John takes the PADD and reviews it.
CPT. BRANSON [re: PADD]: Good I want to know where we are.
He puts the PADD down.
CDR. IVANOVA: What are you looking at?
John turns the monitor to her.
CDR. IVANOVA: Moonbase Alpha mission logs?
CPT. BRANSON: Yeah, after that whirlpool we encountered I had the computer search the database of old Earth and it found this Moonbase Alpha Mission logs in 1999 the Moon under the command of Commander John Koenig was propelled from Earth orbit by a nuclear explosion at one of their dump sites and they were on their own journey through the galaxy. Not much is known how the Moon got back to Earth orbit before we were ever born.
CDR. IVANOVA: You found anything interesting about this situation we're in?
CPT. BRANSON: Not yet but I'm hopeful.
[COM CHIRPS] As Commander T'Lar comes over the com.
CDR. T'LAR [com voice]: Captain Branson report to the bridge
Both Captain Branson and Commander Ivanova EXITS the ready room.
CUT TO:
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
[READY ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As both Branson and Ivanova walks onto the bridge.
CPT. BRANSON: Report?
CDR. T'LAR: We have detected an M-class world directly ahead with short range sensors.
CPT. BRANSON: Let's see it.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows Earth.
CPT. BRANSON: Earth?
LT. SMITH: Captain, I'm detecting EM bands there's someone down there.
CPT. BRANSON: Open a channel. To whoever is on the surface this is John Branson Captain of the Federation starship USS Enterprise do you read me?
A few seconds later a familiar voice comes over the com.
KYLE [com voice]: John? Is that you?
CPT. BRANSON [surprised]: Kyle? What's going on?
KYLE [com voice]: Hang on
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the inside of a building and a elderly Kyle Clarkson.
KYLE [viewer]: John, it is you oh my god you found us
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: Kyle, you look older.
KYLE [viewer]: I feel it but I'm still alive thanks to the advances of medical science
CPT. BRANSON: This is a bit tough for me to take in.
KYLE [viewer]: Beam down and I'll explain
CPT. BRANSON: Very well.
[TRANSMISSION ENDS] As Captain Branson looks over at Commander Ivanova who's also confused.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 1]
Act 2[]
FADE IN
EXT. PLANET ORBIT [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits the planet.
INT. PLANET SURFACE [OPTICAL]
[TRANSPORTER BEAM HUMS] As Captain Branson, Commander T'Lar, Lieutenants Mason and Johnson as well as Doctor Carlson materialized wearing tactical vests, as John looks around the settlement as he's looking for Kyle.
CPT. BRANSON: KYLE!
Commander T'Lar has her tricorder out scanning.
CDR. T'LAR [re: Tricorder]: I am detecting half a dozen biosigns in that direction.
John gets out his type-2 phaser and powers it up as the blue light shows that its set to stun.
[PHASER BEAM LANCES OUT] As the landing party takes cover.
CPT. BRANSON: Where's that coming from?
CDR. T'LAR [re: tricorder]: 3.2 kilometers in that direction.
CPT. BRANSON: Cover me.
Both Mason and Johnson fires their type-3 phaser rifles as blue energy blots lance out of the barrels as John goes to take care of who's firing at them, he puts the phaser in the holster and comes up behind the person and puts him in a headlock causing him to drop his phaser rifle.
CPT. BRANSON: Don't move.
Carl has his hands raised.
KYLE: HOLD YOUR FIRE!
The survivors of the Anubis comes out of cover armed with the phasers from the ship's armory.
CPT. BRANSON: Its good to see you again even if its late.
The two friends shook hands.
KYLE: I'm glad that the Enterprise is here.
CPT. BRANSON: I'm glad that you guys are alive but what happened how did you guys vanish?
Kyle leads them to his hut.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/KYLE'S HUT
The landing party sits on the couch.
KYLE: As we were making our way to Starbase 115 we were caught in a gravitational surge and was pulled into the Vennix Galaxy, we made it our mission to survive and use the wormhole device to get home but it threw us into this reality where Earth was completely barren devote of all life.
CPT. BRANSON: That's impossible when we left Earth a few days ago it wasn't barren it was very lively.
MAVIS: We concluded that the Romulans invaded and destroyed all life on Earth.
KYLE: We landed here in Knoxville and started to live we restored what we could but its been tough.
Mavis gets out the wormhole device and puts it on the table.
MAVIS: We used it to return but it shorted out when we used it.
CPT. BRANSON: We'll see if we Commander Williams can get it to work.
KYLE: Thanks.
EXT. EARTH ORBIT/SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits the planet.
INT. MAIN ENGINEERING, USS ENTERPRISE
The wormhole device sits on the table.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [re: engineering tricorder]: Its a miracle that its intact but it seems whatever they used burnt out several systems.
CPT. BRANSON: How long until you can repair it?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Give me and my team a few hours.
CPT. BRANSON: Keep me posted.
Captain Branson EXITS Main engineering as Commander Williams gets to work.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 2]
Act 3[]
FADE IN
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits Earth.
INT. SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
ANGLE - MEDICAL MONITOR [OPTICAL]
shows the medical information that was transferred from the crashed Anubis.
DR. CARLSON: They're medical data shows that they're still healthy as when they left.
John turns to him.
CPT. BRANSON: How is that possible Steven?
DR. CARLSON: I'm not sure John but whatever it is I'll figure it out.
CPT. BRANSON: Do it.
DR. CARLSON: Yes, sir.
Captain Branson EXITS sickbay.
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits Earth.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
Commander T'Lar turns to report.
CDR. T'LAR: Main sensor array is back online Commander.
CDR. IVANOVA: That's good scan the sector for that whirlpool.
Commander T'Lar taps commands into science station.
CDR. T'LAR: I have it bearing 2-3-4 mark 20.
CDR. IVANOVA: Can we see it.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the whirlpool.
LT. MITCHELL: That things what threw us here?
CDR. T'LAR: Yes it is Mister Mitchell.
ANGLE - SCIENCE MONITOR [OPTICAL]
shows the whirlpool losing integrity.
CDR. T'LAR: The whirlpool is losing integrity.
CDR. IVANOVA [surprised]: What? How?
CDR. T'LAR: It could of been from our trip through the whirlpool.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC] As Commander Ivanova is shocked.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 3]
Act 4[]
FADE IN
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits Earth.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's log stardate 7189.1, After learning that the whirlpool is on the verge of collapsing from our trip through it, so we have less then an hour before it closed and we're trapped here forever
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
ANGLE - WALL MONITOR [OPTICAL]
shows the whirlpool.
CDR. T'LAR: The whirlpool is losing its integrity at an alarming rate it is only a matter of time before it collapses and we will be unable to return to our own reality.
Commander T'Lar sits at the table.
CPT. BRANSON: So we need to return to our own reality before we're trapped here.
CDR. T'LAR: That is correct sir.
CPT. BRANSON: How can we do that without getting torn apart?
CDR. T'LAR: I have gone over the records of the Anubis after they enter it to attempt to return to the Milky Way Galaxy if we reconfigure the wormhole device we could use it to return to our reality.
John turns to Commander Williams.
CPT. BRANSON: How are the repairs coming?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: We're making progress but its slow going.
CPT. BRANSON: Keep me posted on any changes in the whirlpool and on the device.
CDR. T'LAR: Aye, sir.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Aye, sir.

The Enterprise orbits Earth.
INT. DOCTOR CARLSON'S OFFICE/SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
Doctor Carlson sits at his desk.
[DOCTOR CARLSON'S OFFICE DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson enters.
CPT. BRANSON: You wanted to see me Steven?
He looks up at Captain Branson.
DR. CARLSON: We'll be unable to take the crew of the Anubis with us back to our reality.
CPT. BRANSON: What?
DR. CARLSON: I've gone over the DNA samples that Captain Clarkson handed you and the crew as well as their children are tied to this reality like a tether we sever it they won't survive the trip back.
John's disappointed hearing that.
CPT. BRANSON: And just when I thought that I could return with Kyle to show Jamie that I never gave up.
DR. CARLSON: You're not giving up John.
CPT. BRANSON: Sure as hell feels like it.
John EXITS sickbay.
CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/KYLE'S HUT
KYLE: So, if we all leave we'll die?
JOHN: That's what Steven told me in his medical report.
KYLE: How's he doing anyway?
JOHN: He's still mad about being punished for following his oath as a medical officer.
KYLE: Maybe there's a way that we could solve this why don't you and your crew remain here?
John looks at him.
JOHN: Kyle, my crew have lives in the other reality.
John gets out his communicator.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson to Enterprise energize.
[TRANSPORTER BEAM HUMS] As John dematerialized as Kyle is disappointed that he and his crew aren't getting off the barren Earth.
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise orbits Earth as in the distance is the whirlpool as it fades in and out.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the planet and the whirlpool.
LT. CARLSON: Our engines are in working order sir we can head to the whirlpool at your order.
Captain Branson sits in the Captain's chair.
CPT. BRANSON: Standby for now Kara.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Commander Ivanova sits at the other station next to the engineering console.
CDR. IVANOVA: How long do we have until it collapses?
CDR. T'LAR: Less then a few hours.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Commander Williams enters.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: The wormhole device have been reconfigured.
CPT. BRANSON: Good, open a channel.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the main hut of the settlement and Kyle.
KYLE [viewer]: Are you sure that I can't offer you a chance to remain here?
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: I wish I could take up that offer buddy but it can't happen.
KYLE [viewer]: Very well then hope to see you when I return from the Vennix Galaxy
John nods.
[TRANSMISSION ENDS] As John sits back in the Captain's chair.
CPT. BRANSON: Steph, engage the device.
Commander Williams taps commands into the engineering console.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
A close up of the deflector dish as it surges with energy and a beam lances out and struck the whirlpool as it glows brighter.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
CDR. T'LAR: Whirlpool is stabilizing.
CPT. BRANSON: Kara, take us in.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Carlson taps commands into the helm console.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise's impulse engines power up and ship starts to enter the corridor.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
Everyone's bracing themselves as the ship is being buffered about.
LT. MASON: We've lost shields!
LT. CARLSON: I'm losing power to port impulse engine!
Commander Williams sits at the engineering console.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Switching to auxiliary power!
[HULL CREAKING AND STRAINING]
CDR. T'LAR: Hull integrity is starting to collapse we have reports of breaches on decks 14, 18, and 21!
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Engaging emergency bulkheads!
CPT. BRANSON: Keep her together Kara!
EXT. UNCHARTED SECTOR/FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]
The corridor opens and the Enterprise emerges from it.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
The bridge is dark only lit by the red alert lights flashing.
CPT. BRANSON: Hold your positions.
[LIGHTS AND CONSOLES LIGHT UP] As Captain Branson looks around.
CPT. BRANSON: Report?
CDR. T'LAR: It worked Captain we have returned to our own reality.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Damage control teams submit damage reports to first officer.
Commander T'Lar turns to Captain Branson.
CDR. T'LAR: Captain, sensors are detecting a taskforce of Federation starships.
CPT. BRANSON: On screen.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the taskforce led by the USS Korolev-A a Korolev-Class heavy cruiser.
LT. SMITH: We're being hailed.
CPT. BRANSON: On screen.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the bridge and Admiral James Branson.
VADM. BRANSON [viewer]: We've got ships from here to Vulcan looking for you. Where have you guys been?
CPT. BRANSON: It'll be in my report sir.
VADM. BRANSON [viewer]: I look forward to reading it
[TRANSMISSION ENDS] As John walks back to the Captain's chair and sits back in it.
EXT. UNCHARTED SECTOR/FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise is flanked by the Starfleet taskforce.
