The Bus class is a Earth aircraft design type in service in a potential 22nd century timeline.

History[]

Technical data[]

Energy generation[]

In flight, the six engine generators are the primary sources of electrical power with the auxiliary power unit generators being secondary.

Tactical[]

Defensive systems[]

  • Hull polarisation: In lieu of regular deflector shields, they incorporate a polarization matrix in its hull plating to minimize potential damage from weapons fire and other space hazards. Through the application of electromagnetic power, the metal hull of the ship can be made several orders of magnitude harder than it is in its non-polarized state.

Weapon systems[]

Plasma cannons[]

It is armed with two retractable cannon turrets, located at the junction of between each main wing and the fuselage, which are capable of shooting down enemy aircraft. The Bus class also has a form of large, long barreled cannon mounted to the front underside of the fuselage that allows it to attack targets on the ground while in VTOL flight.

All cannon ports fire rapid bolts of red plasma particle discharge at a target.

Propulsion[]

In addition to the common features of the 21st century Boeing C-17, the Bus class has an additional pair of engines and half-length wings located at the tail section of the fuselage, below the conventional, elevated tail section. Furthermore, the six engines are able to pivot upon each wing, allowing them to be angled at the ground, giving such aircrafts vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities.

This, along with an advanced set of "air brake" panels on each wing, gives the Bus class greater aerodynamic and flight capabilities, such as allowing it to perform a full, mid-air stop before changing direction to pursue a new flight plan.

It can stay in the air for a few days without needing to touch down thus giving essentially rapid response anywhere on Earth.

Compartments[]

While the majority of a 21st century conventional C-17's interior is open cargo space, the Bus class has been modified to suit the needs of M.A.C.O., including three passenger decks replacing the forward cargo space. The passenger space includes living quarters, a commons area with a mini-bar, a briefing room, a number of various storage rooms, and a private forensics and research lab.

The highest deck of the Bus class, near the front of the plane, also houses the commanding officer's personal office. There is also an interrogation room/holding cell, whose walls are built with silicon-carbide duranium alloy and is EMP shielded.

The Bus class also contains space near the front of the plane that can accommodate the addition of an interchangeable modular room, such as the Medical pod or Containment modules.

It also has an engine room.
