Chakotay is a male Human who has served in Starfleet and was a former Maquis. He is now a member of the Bajoran Federation Council and holds the title of Ambassador.
He served on board the USS Voyager during its seven year mission attempting to travel through the Delta Quadrant, and assumed command of the vessel in 2378 after its successful return to the Alpha Quadrant. He commanded the vessel for seventeen years and left Starfleet with the flag rank of Vice Admiral. He became an Ambassador for the Bajoran Federation Council and helped to deal with the many new species that had joined the Bajoran Federation. (Star Trek: Bajor)
