The Constitution class is a technologically advanced type of starship utilised by Starfleet during the 23rd century.
History[]
During the 2250s and 2260s, at least fifteen Constitution-class starships had been constructed by Starfleet.
During the Federation-Klingon War, Constitution-class ships were kept off the front lines, as a unit of last resort. At the time, the USS Defiant was assigned to patrol Sector 006, while the USS Enterprise was ordered to continue its then five-year mission under Captain Christopher Pike. However, around 3 ships of this class was assigned to the Home fleet due to their massive firepower.

Design[]
The design consists of a round saucer, thin neck, tubular engineering hull, tapered pylons and tubular nacelles. The ships of this class have a reputation of being illustrious.
Propulsion[]
FTL[]
The class is equipped with an advanced warp drive system which uncommonly incorporated Lithium with its dilithium. It utilises the Alcubierre concept ie: compressing space-time around the exterior.
- The cruising speed is warp 6 while maximum speed was warp factor 8.
Sub-light[]
The Constitution-class's impulse drive system was a twin-port engine, capable of velocities at least warp factor 0.2.

Phasers[]
During the early 2250s, Constitution-class heavy cruisers were armed with a complement of directed energy weapons, that possessed enough power to destroy half a continent in a concentrated bombardment. They fired pulsed beams of nadion radiation particles at a target.
It was armed with eight of these banks.
Torpedoes[]
Constitution class vessels are secondly armed with two forward-firing torpedo launchers that could shoot out self-propelled torpedoes each equipped with photon warheads. The complement of which is 60.
This arsenal was powerful enough to destroy the entire surface of a planet.
Defensive systems[]
- Deflector shields: It boasted a high-capacity shield grid to protect itself from various threats, such as impacts from bolides and debris, various space-related and energetic phenomena and hostile weaponry.
Energy generation[]
The vessel is powered via multiple sources including; an anti-matter x matter drive which generated enormous amounts of power through explosive collisions releasing pure light (energy) which is then harnessed directly into FTL and several other systems and regulated through a matrix of magnets and dilithium. Unusually, the class utilises dilithium.
