The Cretak class is a technologically advanced type of starship utilised by Ni'var and later Starfleet during the late 32nd century.
History[]
After Ni'var rejoined the Federation, they commissioned the Cretak class. A newly designed heavy cruiser class built for large transport roles and scientific research missions.
It was put into production with the assistance of Federation resources and mined dilithium from Theta Zeta.
The Ni'Var Science Academy owned and operated two vessels of this class with another being assigned to a Starfleet task force grouped up to evacuate citizens from a non-aligned colony when a gravitational anomaly threatened the system.
Technical data[]
Life support[]
- Replicators
- Inertial dampeners
- Structural integrity field system
- Oxygen generators
- Gravity plating
- Heat shield
- Radiation shield
Tactical[]
- Tractor beam generator: It features multiple tractor beam emitters, described as multiphasic graviton transmitters, that projects concentrated beams of gravity outward toward a target thus allowing the manipulation of said object's trajectory.
Weapon systems[]
Disrupters[]
Cretak class vessels are armed with a 'sufficient' tactical array of disruptor strip arrays consisting of hundreds of mini-emitter segments designed to fire pulsed beams of directed antiprotons and positronic particles at a target utilising automatic frequency rotation to combat enemy adaption.
Torpedoes[]
Secondly, they were also armed with two torpedo launch banks that shoot out self-propelled torpedoes each armed with a variable warhead. The complement of which is 45 quantum torpedoes using zero-point energy detonation.
Defensive systems[]
- Deflector shields: For protection, the class features sophisticated forcefield armor that has proven to be regenerative employing said sub-routines in addition to self-adaptive matrices to compensate for enemy fire. It is comprised out of layered energetic distortion infused with graviton waves and can absorb kinetic forces as well as energy discharge for prolonged periods of time. Due to Federation influences, the class utilises Mercassium in it's generators.
Stealth systems[]
- Cloak screen: The class is equipped with a highly advanced cloaking device that was proclaimed "perfect." It emitted no tachyons and left no residual anti-protons, the two ways that a cloaked ship could be tracked and located. Thus, when cloaked, a Cretak vessel was near impossible to locate or track and was only possible through ranking clearance registered through Starfleet property.
Propulsion[]

Warp[]
Cretak class starships possess a standard annular warp drive that functions through running highly energised plasma through the unique composition of the warp coils thereby creating a subspace field ie; a discrete bubble of subspace is temporarily merged into normal space around the exterior of the craft. To explain the phenomena, under normal circumstances subspace and normal space do not interact, but the high amount of energy and the unique properties of the warp coils contained in the hoop-shaped field generator structures allow a "blending" of the dimensions, surrounding the ship in the aforementioned subspace field. By manipulating the way plasma is moved through the warp coils, they alter the nature of the subspace field, such as causing it to move in a specific direction therefore actually accelerating the subspace "bubble" to faster-than-light velocities without violating laws of relativity as the ship contained within the field is technically stationary.
The maximum velocity is Warp Factor 9.9995 which is 53,254.35 times the speed of light or 10 light years/every 1.65 hours. While the cruising speed is Warp Factor 8.9975 which is 1,514.98 times the speed of light or around 10 light years/per 57.86 hours (2.4108333 days).
Sub-light[]
Cretak class vessels can travel through space at sub-light speeds via nuclear fusion engines in which the plasma from the fusion reactor powers a massive magnetic coil to propel the ship. It is a form of a magnetohydrodynamic drive called the Hyper-Impulse engine that is capable of propelling the ship at speeds just under .75 percent/the speed of light. This magnetic system also utilizes the Space-Time Driver Coil to operate effectively at sub-light speeds which produce a non-propulsive symmetrical subspace field that helps the ship to accelerate, decelerate, and maneuver by effectively lowering it's apparent mass.
Furthermore, ships of this type are equipped with a Newtonian-thrust-based reaction system in the form of several assemblies of vectored thrust nozzles. They are powered by fusion reactors using deuterium fuel to create helium plasma. These rocket-like engines are typically employed for a boost of velocity, specialised maneuvering, et cetera. A known speed of the Impulse thrusters is 0.17 percent of the speed of light and are generally used to bolster the magnetic drive bringing the total sub-light speed up to 0.92 c which is 0.8 percent less than that of Warp 1 AKA the speed of light.
Energy generation[]
The ship class utilises Romulan designed singularity drives that provides power by utilizing the rotational movement of a microscopic quantum singularity, which is 29 percent efficient by orders of magnitude greater than a nuclear reactor, and more than four times as efficient as Earth's own Sun.
Dilithium is used in the engine to regulate the absorption of the Hawking radiation and other energies released from the singularity including gamma radiation and a Zero-Point Energy Conduit converts it into a form compatible with Cretak class power systems.
It utilises a series of impulse reactors, fueled by deuterium, which operates through a nuclear fusion process to produce energised plasma that is then distributed to secondary systems using a plasma conduit managed EPS grid instead of polaric conduits.
Materials[]
- Hull
- The exterior frame of the class' hull is comprised out of Duranium alloy sheet panels chemically reinforced with Neutronium fibres.

Trivia[]
- Although incredibly different at the fundamental level in terms of power generation, much of the starship systems that rely upon the Cretak class exotic power source are similar to the technology found in both Starfleet and Klingon technology, and can be integrated into other ships quite easily.
- The class is named after Romulan Senator, from the 24th century, Kimara Cretak.
- The Romulans designed the power systems, weapons, cloak, and etc. While the Vulcans designed the life support, propulsion systems, computer, and the shields in conjunction with Starfleet.
