The Currie (NX-16) was a United Earth NX-class cruiser starship in United Earth Starfleet service in the 22nd century. This ship was in active service around the year 2159. Currie took part in the Earth-Romulan War. (ST video game: Legacy)
Service history and disposition[]
The Romulan War[]
Currie had entered service at some point during the Earth-Romulan War in the 2150s. Its registry number NX-16 identified it as the sixteenth ship of its class.
During the war, Currie saw action against the Romulan Star Empire and its Imperial Navy by 2159.
In that year, following a hostile encounter with the Romulans during a mission on behalf of the Confederacy of Vulcan, Captain Jonathan Archer of Enterprise NX-01 was authorized by "Reggie" to requisition Columbia NX-02, Avenger NX-09 and Currie NX-16, or one of the other available Earth starships for a mission to Research Station Gravenor. (ST video game: Legacy mission: "Breakwater")
- No specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a scout by the Legacy game developers, and is sometimes placed randomly when the ship appears.
Post-war and legacy[]
Earth Starfleet was folded into Federation Starfleet as the UESPA branch following the formation of the United Federation of Planets in 2161. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)
- Legacy allows to use any unlocked spacecraft to be used as late as 2380.
The future Currie in 3189
Surviving NX-class starships received the "USS" prefix and their registry number was updated with the NCC prefix. They were slated for a major refit. Following the recovery of Intrepid NX-07, Starfleet was aware of the fate of each of the 16 or so built NX-class starships. (TNG novel: Indistinguishable from Magic)
- This may indicate Currie was the last original NX-class ship.
In the 32nd century, the four-nacelled starship USS Curie was also known as USS Currie. By 3189, this ship operated from the Federation Headquarters station, located in interstellar space. (STU Issue 01: "La Sirena" promo booklet; DSC episode: "Die Trying")
