The Deputy CAG, or Fighter Group Commander, is the second most senior member of fighter wing, second-in-command to the CAG. While the CAG holds the rank of Captain, the deputy CAG holds the rank of Commander with each of the 12 squadron commanders holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In the event of the death or incapacitation of the CAG, the deputy will assume the role of acting CAG and the duties thereof.
