Edora, designated P5C-768 by the SGC, is a planet in the Milky Way Galaxy with a Stargate which is home to the Edorans and is located in Federation-controlled space on the major hyperspace route from Earth to Dakara. Edora is a major food producer, exporting much of its produce to Federation colonies and bases.
Overview[]
Edora is an Earth-like planet orbiting a G2V-class star. The surface is dominated by grassland and forest, as well as several oceans and mountain ranges. It has two moons and every year the planet experiences a meteor shower, known as the "fire rain".

Edora has a slightly unstable elliptical orbit and every year, the planet passes very close to the system's asteroid belt. This causes the "fire rain", where meteors from the belt skip across the planet's atmosphere. However, around every 150 years the planet enters a denser part of the asteroid belt, causing the meteors to skip too close to the planet's atmosphere, and even impact the surface. The "Fire rain" in 2363 was the most turbulent in the cycle. One of the meteors buried the Stargate, but SG-1 finally managed to unearth it by using a plasma weapon to create enough of a gap between the gate and the rocks above it for the event horizon to create a larger cavern, allowing Teal'c and Jack to breach the cavern and dig up the Stargate. (SG1: "A Hundred Days")
History[]
When SG-1 first visited the planet in 2363, the "Fire rain" was the most turbulent in the cycle. One of the meteors buried the Stargate, trapping Colonel Jack O'Neill on the planet for a hundred days. But SG-1 eventually managed to unbury it. The next "fire rain" such as the one in 2363 is due to happen again sometime in the 2510s. (SG1: "A Hundred Days")
Whilst undercover to expose a rogue NID operation, Colonel Jack O'Neill went back to Edora in order to reach the N.I.D. Base via its Stargate. The Edoran Stargate's DHD had been jury-rigged into operation with Federation technology, presumably due to the damage sustained by the meteor impact previously. (SG1: "Shades of Grey")
