The Excelsior class is a technologically advanced type of starship utilised by Starfleet during the 23rd century.
Excelsior class vessels were used for a variety of mission profiles, ranging from deep space exploration and terraforming missions, to patrol duty, to courier and transport runs.

Design[]
The Excelsior-class featured the saucer section-engineering section-warp nacelle layout common to most Starfleet vessels. However, it featured a more streamlined design than was seen in previous classes.

Phasers[]
It is equipped with three dorsal turrets on the saucer section, one for the forward, starboard and port sides. These turrets are duplicated on the ventral side of the primary saucer. One ventral turret on the primary hull, dead aft covers the aft firing arc. The turret itself is located beneath the aft engineering hull Shuttlebay. These fire pulsed beams of nadion radiation particle discharge at a target.
Torpedoes[]
The class is equipped with two fixed-focus torpedo launchers, located just above the main deflector dish in the neck of the vessel. A third launcher is set to fire dead aft and is located on the rear of the engineering hull just below the aft shuttlebay. These shoot out self-propelled torpedoes each equipped with photon warheads.
Defensive systems[]
- Deflector shields: It boasted a high-capacity shield grid to protect itself from various threats, such as impacts from bolides and debris, various space-related and energetic phenomena and hostile weaponry.
Energy generation[]
The vessel is powered via multiple sources including; an Anti-Matter x Matter drive which generated enormous amounts of power through explosive collisions releasing pure light (energy) which is then harnessed directly into FTL and several other systems and regulated through a matrix of magnets and dilithium.

The class is equipped with an advanced warp drive system powered by a matter x antimatter reactor. It utilises the Alcubierre concept ie: compressing space-time around the exterior.

Excelsior class ships possessed a impulse drive system which was essentially a assembly of augmented fusion rockets, consisting of one or more fusion reactors, a coil assembly, and vectored thrust nozzles to direct the plasma exhaust.
