The Federation Home Fleet was a Federation fleet that was formed in 2374 following the last Borg invasion in early 2373.
Formation
After the masscere at Wolf 359 Starfleet wanted to have a defense fleet protecting Earth on a regular basis but when the President refused to sign the papers Starfleet just kept its fleets on high alert, until early 2373 when the colony on Ivor Prime was destroyed by a single Borg vessel and the Federation defense fleet that was gathered in the Typhon sector was nearly destroyed if not for the arrival of the USS Enterprise-E with Picard's knowledge of the Borg's plan he commanded the fleet to focus their weapons at a breach in the cube's outer hull and success in destroying the vessel but not before the cube launches a small craft as the cube exploded.
