Fortunate Daughter is the 14th episode of Star Trek: The New Voyages in TOS Season 1.
Synopsis[]
The USS Enterprise encounters the Earth Cargo Service vessel ECS Pilgrim an Earth medical frigate under the command of Captain David Carlson the father of both Kara and Steven, who is wanting revenge for what the Klingons did to his wife.

The medical cargo vessel ECS Pilgrim travels at warp 1.3 on on course for Starfleet medical outpost 12.
INT. CARGO MODULE, ECS PILGRIM
The crew are checking the supplies.
CPT. CARLSON: How are we looking?
CREWMEN SHAW: Great sir we should be ready to drop it off to the medical outpost.
David pats his shoulder.
[SHIP SHUDDERS] As David looks around.
CPT. CARLSON [to com]: Captain here.
CDR. JONES [com voice]: Its the Klingons again
David looks at the others.
CPT. CARLSON [to com]: Drop us out of warp and power the pulse cannon.
[BOOM!] As Captain Carlson is thrown to the deck.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Klingon D7-class ship fires at the Pilgrim.

The Enterprise travels at warp to Starbase 13.
INT. BEDROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
John sleeps in the bed.
[COM CHIRPS] As John stirs as he gets up from the bed and walks to the living room area.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
John sits behind the desk and toggles the com panel.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson here.
BRIDGE OFFICER [com voice]: Its Admiral April sir
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Patch him through.
ANGLE - MONITOR SCREEN [OPTICAL]
shows the office of Robert April at Starbase 1.
VADM. APRIL [monitor]: John, hope I didn't wake you?
CPT. BRANSON: I was just getting up sir what can I do for you?
VADM. APRIL [monitor]: I hate to do this to you, John, but we're turning you around
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: Sir?
VADM. APRIL [monitor]: We received a distress call from the medical vessel the ECS Pilgrim. The nearest Starfleet vessel is 3 weeks away at maximum warp, you can be there in a day in a half
CPT. BRANSON: What's the nature of their distress call?
VADM. APRIL [monitor]: We're not sure they've not responded to our hails
CPT. BRANSON: All right, we'll get it done sir.
VADM. APRIL [monitor]: Keep me posted April out
[TRANSMISSION ENDS] As John thinks.
CUT TO:
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
ANGLE - WALL MONITOR [OPTICAL]
shows the schematics of the Earth Cargo Service vessel Pilgrim.
As it pushes back to show the senior staff minus Lieutenant Mason who's in the brig from the last episode.
LCDR. T'LAR: The Earth Cargo Ship Pilgrim. Y-class, maximum speed: Warp 1.8, Crew complement: 23.
ENS. CARLSON: Not to mention all the newborn babies.
CPT. BRANSON: Ensign?
ENS. CARLSON: Both me and Steven grew up on the Pilgrim.
Commander T'Lar looks over at her sister in law.
LCDR. T'LAR: Do you have any helpful information on this vessel beyond its recreational activities?
ENS. MITCHELL: For starts what kind of weapons its armed with?
DR. CARLSON: Nothing more then a low-yield plasma cannon but most Captains get an upgrade as soon as they can.
LTJG. SMITH: Why?
ENS. CARLSON: Think about it Julia you're carrying half a kilo of medical supplies armed with nothing more then a pop gun to shoot at on coming asteroids what would you do?
They look at her.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
A burst of light as the Enterprise drops out of warp.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
The crew are at their battle stations at the science station Commander T'Lar reports.
LCDR. T'LAR: I am reading hull damage.
At the engineering station Commander Williams reports.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Their warp core's offline and most of their primary systems are down.
CPT. BRANSON: Any other ships in the area?
Commander T'Lar looks into the scanner scope and reports.
LCDR. T'LAR: Negative.
Captain Branson turns to Lieutenant Smith.
CPT. BRANSON: Julia, open a channel.
Lieutenant Smith taps commands into the communications console.
LTJG. SMITH: Channel opened sir.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: ECS Pilgrim this is John Branson Captain of the Federation starship USS Enterprise we're responding to your distress call. Pilgrim do you read?
He turns to Lieutenant Smith.
CPT. BRANSON: Julia are they receiving us?
Lieutenant Smith taps commands into the com console and reports.
LTJG. SMITH: Their com system must be down.
Captain Branson toggles ship-wide.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: All hands, go to yellow alert. Standby battle stations. Julia, have Doctor Carlson meet us in the transporter room. T'Lar, Mitchell you're with me.
Both T'Lar and Mitchell follow the Captain into the turbolift as Commander Ivanova sits in the Captain's chair.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise faces the drifting Pilgrim.
INT. CORRIDOR, ECS PILGRIM
[TRANSPORTER BEAM HUMS] As the boarding party materialized.
CPT. BRANSON: Permission to come aboard?
CPT. CARLSON: Granted, I'm David Carlson Captain of this vessel you must be Captain Branson my kids have told me good things about you as their commanding officer. Steven its good to see you again son.
DR. CARLSON: You to dad.
CPT. BRANSON: What happened here?
CPT. CARLSON: Klingons they attacked us. They tried to board us we managed to fight them off but not before we suffered causalities.
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: We've been getting reports that the Klingons have been attacking cargo vessels in this sector to lay claim to it.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Captain, I've got a repair team on standby point me in the direction of your engine room and I'll see what I can do to repair the damage.
CPT. CARLSON: That's fine we can take care of the repairs ourselves.
CPT. BRANSON: If you didn't need help then why did you send a distress call?
CPT. CARLSON: One of our younger officers must of panicked we sustained damage to our com relay before we could contact Starfleet to ignore it I'm sorry if we took you away from your mission.
DR. CARLSON: Father, I'm a doctor my duty is to treat whatever wounded officers are present and I will not leave until I treat them.
CPT. CARLSON: All right, son follow me.
INT. INFIRMARY, ECS PILGRIM
Doctor Carlson treats his mother's wounds.
DAVID: Is she going to die?
DR. CARLSON: No dad mom's not going to die the disruptor did disrupt her neural pathways. I've got her on cortical regeneration but it'll take some time.
DAVID: How long?
Steven closes his med kit.
DR. CARLSON: A day or two.
David pats his son's shoulder.
CPT. BRANSON: Since we have to stick around, we might as well help you get your ship up and running.
CPT. CARLSON: Thanks but that's not necessary Captain.
CPT. BRANSON: Mister Carlson I understand that you and your crew like to do things on your own but we're here. Use us. We might help you upgrade your shields and weapons wouldn't help the next time you run into the Klingons again.
David is conflicted as he's hiding something.
CPT. BRANSON: The sooner you get back into warp the sooner your medical supplies get to Medical outpost 12.
CPT. CARLSON [nods]: All right.
CUT TO:
INT. CARGO MODULE 4, ECS PILGRIM
Both Captain Carlson and Commander Jones.
CDR. JONES [worried]: You're allowing more of them to come aboard?
CPT. CARLSON: Calm down Shawn its just a few engineers just keep them where they need to be.
CDR. JONES: And what if they find her?
CPT. CARLSON: They won't.
A officer stands guard wearing a tactical vest armed with a particle rifle.
CPT. CARLSON: Has she told you anything?
He shakes his head as its revealed that Mara the wife of Kang is the prisoner.
CPT. CARLSON [sotto]: You're going to tell us the shield modulation of your husband's cruiser.
Mara pants as she shows no fear.
[DRAMATIC STING]
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 1]
Act 2[]
FADE IN
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise is next to the ECS Pilgrim.
INT. MAIN ENGINEERING, ECS PILGRIM
Commander Williams's repairing the damage the ship sustained.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Harris hand me that coil spanner.
Ensign Payne hands her the spanner as she configures the power system.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Take that back to the ship to see if we can replicate the parts for it.
ENS. PAYNE: Will do Commander.
He takes the piece of equipment to the beam down area.
INT. CORRIDOR, ECS PILGRIM
He takes the piece of engineering tool with him as he hears something he puts the part down and gets out his tricorder and scans his position as he goes to the source of the sound.
INT. CARGO MODULE 4, ECS PILGRIM
He looks around the area as he sees Mara.
ENS. PAYNE [sotto]: Its all right, I won't harm you wait you're a Klingon?
But before he can help Mara he's shot in the back by a particle rife set to stun as the guard walks up to the down engineer and drags him away.
CUT TO:
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, ECS PILGRIM
Ensign Carlson walks around the bridge holding a tricorder as the other engineers are working at different stations as she walks to the helm station and pats the edge of the station.
DAVID: I remember when you were little you'd sit on my lap wanting to help me fly the ship.
Kara turns to see her father.
KARA: Yeah, mom was a bit worried everytime you did that.
David walks over to her.
DAVID: Why did you choice Starfleet Kara you could of been the best pilot in the Earth Cargo Service.
KARA: I wanted to make a future for myself father you understand that I know that it was hard seeing me go to the Academy but I wanted to join Starfleet and prove my piloting skills.
DAVID: If you were here you could of prevented the Klingons from disabling our engines and boarding us and nearly killing your mother!
KARA: Because you wanted this for me and you never asked what I wanted to for my future father, my future!
Kara EXITS the bridge.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise is next to the Pilgrim.
INT. SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
Ensign Payne lays on the biobed as he comes to and he looks around.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Harris you gave me quite a scare my friend.
He starts to sit up.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Easy there what's the rush?
ENS. PAYNE: We've got to help her she's a prisoner.
CPT. BRANSON: Whoa, slow down there Ensign who's a prisoner?
ENS. PAYNE: I saw a Klingon female.
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: A Klingon female? That's impossible they fought them off.
DR. CARLSON: He must of hit his head on something.
ENS. PAYNE: Captain, you've got to believe me I saw a Klingon female her name was Mara.
CPT. BRANSON: That's Captain Kang's wife why would she be aboard the Pilgrim?
JUMP CUT TO:
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
Both Branson and Carlson are in the ready room.
CPT. BRANSON: Those engine parts that Commander Williams installed holding?
CPT. CARLSON: Yes they are. Thank you Captain.
CPT. BRANSON: Doctor Carlson told me that his mother's condition is improving.
CPT. CARLSON: I am proud of my son his medical skills came from her.
John looks at him.
CPT. BRANSON: Is there anything else we can do?
CPT. CARLSON [smiles]: Thanks, but, uh, we're anxious to get underway again. Goodbye Captain.
John looks at him.
CPT. BRANSON: There's one thing I wanted to ask one of my crew discovered a Klingon woman by the name of Mara the wife of Captain Kang.
David looks at him.
CPT. CARLSON: I'm sure that your officer was mistaken.
John gets up from the chair and walks over to him.
CPT. BRANSON: Maybe but if Steven or Kara have probably told you is that I believe my officers. So you wanna try answering my question again Captain?
CPT. CARLSON [sighs]: All right, yes Mara is aboard my vessel she's my prisoner of war.
CPT. BRANSON: What gives you the right to take a prisoner! Captain?
CPT. CARLSON: The Klingons have been attacking our ship for months! Stealing our cargo! They nearly killed my wife the mother of my two kids that serve under you!
CPT. BRANSON: We have a treaty with them that we have to abide by Captain and you are risking war with the Empire and the disabling of our bases and vessels by the Organians! I wanna see Mara.
CPT. CARLSON: Or what?
CPT. BRANSON: Or I'll place you in the brig and have your ship towed in disgrace to Starbase 6 your choice Captain.
CUT TO:
INT. CARGO MODULE 4, ECS PILGRIM
The boarding party led by Captain Branson is following Captain Carlson.
CPT. BRANSON: How much further?
CPT. CARLSON: Not much further. She's in there.
CPT. BRANSON: Where?
CPT. CARLSON: She's tied up over there.
LCDR. T'LAR [re: tricorder]: Captain, I am detecting one biosign but it is not Klingon.
Captain Carlson is handed his pistol.
CPT. BRANSON: DAVID! DON'T DO THIS!
Captain Carlson shot a hole in the bulkhead as air escapes from it.
CPT. BRANSON: Ty, go.
Ensign Mitchell and Captain Branson move but its too late the hatch is closed and locked as both John and Tyson try to get it open.
[CARGO MODULE SHUDDERS] As they looks around.
CPT. BRANSON: What was that?
LCDR. T'LAR: The module has been unattached from the ship.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The module floats away from the Pilgrim.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 2]
Act 3[]
FADE IN
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
[KLAXONS BLARING]
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the Pilgrim and the module floating away.
LCDR. IVANOVA: What the hell's going on?
Ensign Hansen stands at the science station looking into the scanner scope.
ENS. HANSEN [re: scanner scope]: There's 4 biosigns on the module. Its the boarding party.
Lieutenant Smith turns from the communications console.
LTJG. SMITH: We're being hailed by the Captain.
Commander Ivanova toggles the com panel.
LCDR. IVANOVA [to com]: We read you Captain.
CPT. BRANSON [com voice]: I don't want the Pilgrim leaving
LCDR. IVANOVA [to com]: Understood. Hail them.
LTJG. SMITH: No response sir.
ENS. MITCHELL: They're charging weapons!
LCDR. IVANOVA: Full power to shields!
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim fires two plasma blots at the Enterprise hitting her port shield armor making them flicker and crackle.
INT. CARGO MODULE 4, ECS PILGRIM
LCDR. T'LAR [re: tricorder]: The Pilgrim has fired their weapons.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Z, what's going on?
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
LCDR. IVANOVA [to com]: They're getting bit trigger-happy, sir. Stand by. load starboard tube target their engines.
ENS. HANSEN [re: scanner scope]: They're warp engines are powering up.
LCDR. IVANOVA: Fire!
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise fires a torpedo from her starboard but its too late the Pilgrim has gone to warp.
INT. CARGO MODULE 4
The boarding party are gathered.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Z?
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: Sorry sir they've gone to warp
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Follow them.
Commander T'Lar scans the small breach with her tricorder.
LCDR. T'LAR [re: tricorder]: Captain, considering the rate of decompression, I would suggest that Enterprise retrieves us as quickly as possible.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Belay that order Z beam us up we've sprung a leak.
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: On our way
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
ANGLE - WALL MONITOR [OPTICAL]
shows the last recorded signature of the Pilgrim.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: We're trying to track their warp signature, but their plasma weapon knocked our sensors offline.
Captain Branson turns to her.
CPT. BRANSON: How long until their back online?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: It'll be at least 4 hours.
ENS. CARLSON: Well, we do know where my father's going. They're going to attack the Klingons. Our father's after revenge, sir.
LCDR. T'LAR: A very primitive emotion, but it would explain his irrational behavior.
DR. CARLSON: Not to our father. The Klingons nearly killed our mother, if we want to find the Pilgrim we have to find the Klingons sir.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim travels at warp.
INT. CARGO MODULE 5, ECS PILGRIM
Mara sits in the chair with her hands tied behind her back.
CPT. CARLSON: The shield frequency?
MARA: You're not very skilled at this are you? When my husband attacks your ship he'll show you how to interrogate a prisoner.
He kicks her in the chest as she coughs up blood on his boot.
CPT. CARLSON: Give me the frequencies!
MARA [spits blood in his face]: My husband will come for me!
David gets in her face as he grabs her hair.
CPT. CARLSON: I'm counting on it!
INT. CORRIDOR, ECS PILGRIM
Captain Carlson walks out of the cargo bay as he adjusts his pants as Commander Jones walks over to him.
CDR. JONES: I'm not sure that was a good idea sir.
He looks at him.
CPT. CARLSON: I'm not going to let the Klingons bully us any longer! Have tactical remodulate the weapons to the frequency.
He stops as David turns to his first officer.
CPT. CARLSON: What is it?
CDR. JONES: You were wrong in what you did to her what if your wife finds out that you raped a Klingon in order to get what you wanted?
David walks up to him.
CPT. CARLSON: My wife is in her current condition because of those bastards if I had to stoop low to get revenge for her then that's what I'll do! Get back to the bridge its time we did some damage of our own.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise follows a faint energy signature.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's log supplemental, We've picked up a faint warp trail that could be the Pilgrim, but we won't know for sure until our long range sensors are back online
INT. MAIN ENGINEERING, USS ENTERPRISE
The main sensor relay panel is opened as Ensign Carlson and Commander Williams are working on restoring it.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Anything?
ENS. CARLSON: No, try bypassing circuit L-47.
ENGINEER: Yes, ma'am.
Both women are working on the main relay.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: No offense to you Kara but what was your father thinking firing on a Starfleet vessel he's got a lot more to worry about then the Klingons now.
ENS. CARLSON [re: PADD]: I'm not sure but whatever they did to mine and Steven's mother must of set him off.
[MAIN SENSOR ARRAY POWERS UP]
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Long range sensors are back online.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
Commander T'Lar turns from the science station.
LCDR. T'LAR: Long range scanners are restored sir, I am able to confirm that the trail we are following is the Pilgrim.
CPT. BRANSON: Helm, increase speed to warp 7.
RELIEF CONN OFFICER: Aye, sir.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim travels at warp.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, ECS PILGRIM
CPT. CARLSON: Are you sure?
CREWMEN SHAW: I'm sure I've seen that configuration enough times.
CPT. CARLSON: Commander the new shield frequencies?
CDR. JONES: Ready.
Captain Carlson walks to the Captain's chair and sits down in it.
CPT. CARLSON: Drop us out of warp.
CREWMEN SHAW: They've seen us they're heading to the asteroid.
CPT. CARLSON: Get us into weapons range.
CDR. JONES: Weapons ready.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim follows the D7-class cruiser behind the asteroid as it reveals that the asteroid is an outpost for the Klingon raiders to drop off their stolen cargo.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
Captain Carlson gets up from the Captain's chair.
CPT. CARLSON: This must be where they drop off their stolen cargo.
Crewmen Shaw gets cold feet.
CREWMEN SHAW: I'm getting us out of here.
CPT. CARLSON: NO! We have to show them we're not afraid fire!
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim fires off several energy blots but the blots don't effect the D7-class warship.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
CDR. JONES: No effect on their forward shields? I don't understand? We should have been able to punch through their shields?
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
As the Pilgrim follows the D7-class cruiser two more decloaked behind the Pilgrim and fire their disruptor cannons at the cargo vessel scoring several blows.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
[BOOM!] As everyone braces themselves.
CPT. CARLSON: Go to warp!
CREWMEN SHAW: The reactor's offline!
[BOOM!]
CPT. CARLSON: Evasive maneuvers! Return fire!
[BOOM!]
CDR. JONES: Shields are down to 78%!
CPT. CARLSON: Re-route power to aft shields!
[BOOM!] Shower of sparks erupt.
CREWMEN SHAW: We've lost impulse. We're being hailed.
Captain Carlson gets up from the Captain's chair.
CPT. CARLSON: On screen.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the bridge of the lead Klingon warship.
CPT. KANG [viewer]: Our scans show that you are holding my wife aboard your vessel. I assume you are here to return her to me?
CPT. CARLSON: Your wife is my prisoner Captain.
CPT. KANG [viewer]: She won't be for long
[TRANSMISSION ENDS]
[SHUDDER, ALARM BLARES]
CDR. JONES: They've latched on we're being boarded.
[DRAMATIC STING] As Captain Carlson is worried.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 3]

EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise follows the warp trail of the Pilgrim.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
Commander T'Lar turns to Captain Branson to report.
LCDR. T'LAR: Captain, long range scanners are detecting weapons fire.
John's sitting in the Captain's chair.
CPT. BRANSON: Who's doing the shooting?
ENS. CARLSON [re: tactical scanner]: Can't tell from this distance sir but I can't rule out that its my father and his crew.
CPT. BRANSON: Lay in a course warp 7.9 Ensign.
ENS. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Pilgrim drifts as two Klingon vessels are around the vessel as the lead vessel is docked to the cargo vessel.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
Coolant spews from the ceiling.
CPT. CARLSON: How many?
CDR. JONES: There's four Klingon soldiers.
CPT. CARLSON: Start passing out weapons.
Commander Jones looks at him.
CDR. JONES: If we just let them retrieve Mara...
CPT. CARLSON: We've fought them off before we can do it again now weapons.
INT. CORRIDOR, ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
Captain Carlson, Crewmen Shaw and two other people are armed with plasma rifles and particle pistols ready to repel the Klingon boarders, as Kang and his men round the corner they come under fire as one Klingon solider is shot by one of the crew as Kang shot a crewmen.
CPT. CARLSON: FALL BACK!
They fall back to the cargo module as David locks the door as Kang and his men start cutting through it with their disruptor pistols.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
A spread of torpedoes streak by and struck one of the D7-class warships causing it to spin as the Enterprise comes into the scene firing her phasers as the third cruiser striking its port warp engine causing plasma to vent from it.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
ENS. MITCHELL: One cruiser has lost tactical systems the third is coming around for another assault.
[BOOM!] As everyone braces themselves.
ENS. MITCHELL: Shields are holding!
CPT. BRANSON: Let them go we've got a situation on our hands Commander you've got the bridge have a security team meet me in the transporter room.
Commander Ivanova sits in the Captain's chair.
INT. CARGO MODULE 4, ECS PILGRIM [RED ALERT]
Captain Carlson and the defenders are locked in the module with Mara.
CDR. JONES: We need to get him to the infirmary.
CPT. CARLSON: He'll be all right.
MARA: I told you my husband would come for me.
He puts the barrel of his gun to her cheek.
CPT. CARLSON: Shut up!
[TRANSPORTER BEAM HUMS] As Captain Branson and a security force materialized just as Captain Kang and his men enter ready to fight.
CPT. BRANSON: WHOA! HOLD YOUR FIRE! No one take any action what so ever.
John puts his phaser down on the floor as he walks to Kang.
CPT. BRANSON: Captain Kang, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the Federation and the Earth Cargo Service for what has happened here today.
Kang looks over at his wife who's wounded but alive as two Klingon officers walk over to help her to her feet.
CPT. KANG: Thank you Captain Branson you are a very impressive diplomat but if we ever meet in battle.
CPT. BRANSON: All bets are off.
Kang takes out his communicator.
CPT. KANG [into communicator]: Hljol!
Captain Kang, Mara, and his men dematerialized.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Klingon cruiser undocks from the Pilgrim and shot off into the distance into a burst of light.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise and Pilgrim travel to Starbase 6.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's log stardate 5434.8, Captain Carlson has turned over his ship to his first officer and transported to the Enterprise. I have confined him to quarters for the return voyage
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/STEVEN & T'LAR'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
Steven sits at the desk thinking as T'Lar walks over to him.
T'LAR: Steven, are you all right?
Steven looks over at her.
STEVEN: Just got a lot on my right now T'Lar. I spent all my life looking up to my father learning from him about cargo vessels and to find this out about him. Could this happen to me if I took a command of my?
T'Lar puts her hand on his shoulder.
T'LAR: You are what you make yourself.
Steven smiles at her.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT FOUR, END CREDITS]
