The Hernandez class is a technologically advanced type of mobile starbase utilised by the United Earth Defense Force during the 32nd century.
History[]
Technical data[]
Propulsion[]
Sub-light[]
Hernandez class vessels can travel through space at sub-light speeds via nuclear fusion engines in which the plasma from the fusion reactor powers a massive magnetic coil to propel the ship. It is a form of magnetohydrodynamic or magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters.
Life support[]
- Oxygen generators
- Inertia dampeners
- Gravity plating
- Heat shield
- Radiation shield
Energy generation[]
It is powered through a series of impulse reactors, fueled by deuterium, which utilises a nuclear fusion process to produce energised plasma that is then distributed to the systems.
Tactical[]
Weapon systems[]
Phasers[]
At the top of the class's primary body, are six phaser emitters that fire pulsed beams of tetryon-plasma particle discharge at a target.
Torpedoes[]
The free floating bottom positioned "nacelle" sections are fitted with torpedo launch banks that can shoot out self-propelled torpedoes each equipped with quantum warheads. It has a complement of 5,120 torpedoes. This alone allows one of them to stand against an entire fleet of warbirds.
Defensive systems[]
- Deflector shields: It boasted a high-capacity shield grid to protect itself from various threats, such as impacts from bolides and debris, various space-related and energetic phenomena and hostile weaponry.
Design[]
Detachment was used as a construction method when designing the class where it's components lacked a physical connection with one another but remained a unit through Magnetic seals generated by a Superconductor and Programmable Matter.
The ships are interesting in that they don't appear to have regular hulls at at all, and instead are arch-shaped. It utilises 4th dimensional construction techniques to make the inside bigger than what the exterior dimensions would typically allow.
Materials[]
- Hull
- The exterior frame of the class is partially comprised out of Duranium metal and Neutronium alloy fibres.
Trivia[]
- The class is named after the 22nd century United Earth Starfleet officer Erika Hernandez who captained the second NX-class starship, Columbia.
