In the dark mirror universe, Hikaru Sulu was a Terran male and an officer who served for Imperial Starfleet for the Terran Empire between the 23rd and 24th centuries. In the 2260s, Sulu was chief of security on board the ISS Enterprise, under Captain James T. Kirk before he became first officer after Spock in 2270. Sulu had a scar on his face from unknown reasons and had an infatuation with the ship's communications officer, Lieutenant Nyota Uhura.
In 2270, four crewmembers of the USS Enterprise crossed over into the dark mirror universe during a transporter malfunction while attempting to transport through an ion storm. In their attempt to escape, it was the mission of Lieutenant Nyota Uhura to distract Sulu from his security display, which she was successful in manipulating.
