Irregular Procedures is the series opener of Star Trek: Anubis in Anubis Season 1.
Synopsis[]
Kyle is reassigned to the Archer-class USS Anubis, where he's tasked to train a group of raw cadets on starship operations. But he must get the ship back online due to it being mothballed.

EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise approaches Starbase 103.
INT. DECK 6 CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
Both John and Kyle are walking to the transporter room.
CPT. BRANSON: According to Admiral Kirk the Anubis was mothballed for poor performance during her first shakedown cruise, so Starfleet mothballed her.
Kyle has the PADD in hand.
KYLE [re: PADD]: I see but what I don't get is why would they mothball a perfectly intact vessel after the M5 disaster and losing half of our Constitution-class ships to different objects?
JOHN: I'm not sure Jim wasn't much on the details but he's assured me that the engineering team will provide you with a full report as soon as you beam aboard the station.
INT. TRANSPORTER ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
[TRANSPORTER ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As John and Kyle enters.
JOHN: You ready?
KYLE: I feel ready. Any advice from an old salty Captain?
JOHN [snickers]: Don't show weakness, or they'll eat you alive.
Kyle turns to him.
KYLE: Yeah?
JOHN [smiles]: Kidding Kyle, you're going to have a great time just remember not to be overbearing with your engineering logical side.
Kyle walks onto the pad.
KYLE: I'll try to remember that John and thanks for everything.
JOHN [smiles]: If anyone deserves a second chance at being apart of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers its you Kyle.
CHIEF MACKENZIE: Starbase 103 is ready to receive Commander Clarkson sir.
CPT. BRANSON: Energize chief.
Chief Mackenzie taps commands into the transporter console and activates the transporter system and Kyle dematerialized.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise's warp engines powered up and she shot off into the distances into a burst of light.
[BLACKOUT, END OF TEASER, START CREDITS]

EXT. PLANET ORBIT [OPTICAL]

INT. OBSERVATION ROOM, STARBASE 103
The crew of the Anubis are present as they're chatting.
[OBSERVATION ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Kyle enters.
LCDR. DEL: CAPTAIN ON DECK!
[EVERYONE SNAPS TO ATTENTION] As Kyle looks at the crew.
CDR. CLARKSON: Now while I am thrilled to be your new Captain, I want this to be a tightly run ship but one that you're proud to be serving aboard. Everyone but senior staff are dismissed I'll inform you once the ship is up and running.
The crew leaves the observation deck.
CDR. CLARKSON [re: PADD]: Lieutenant Commander Zerb Del you're my first officer.
LCDR. DEL: Yes, sir.
Kyle looks at him.
CDR. CLARKSON: Never met a Deltan male before I've only seen the female side of your species during my time aboard the Harrison and Enterprise.
LCDR. DEL: There's very vast differences between our two genders sir the males don't have to take an oath of celibacy while the females have to in order to remain faithful to their mates.
Kyle reviews the PADD.
CDR. CLARKSON [re: PADD]: Curious you're a Lieutenant Commander but yet you're old enough to be a Captain of your own vessel why haven't you done that?
LCDR. DEL: I prefer to remain first officer the burden of command just isn't my strong suit.
