Dinah Laurel Lance (born November 15, 2335), known simply as Laurel Lance also known as Laurel Lance-Halliwell or Dinah Laurel Lance-Halliwell, is a female meta-human who is a citizen of Star City and one of its most beloved public servants. She is the older sister of Sara Lance and the wife of Typhuss James Halliwell.
She is a lawyer who holds the position of district attorney and was previously a former legal aid attorney. After exposure to the dark matter released from Harrison Wells S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator, Laurel gained the ability to scream at a high frequency. Using these powers for good, she decided to become a vigilante and fight crime in Star City.
She was inspired to take up vigilantism, after finding out that her husband Typhuss is the Green Arrow, eventually forming Team Canary and becoming the Black Canary, the second Canary of her beloved city. Laurel received training from Typhuss and later by her close friend and her sister's former lover, Nyssa al Ghul. (Canary)
