Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a male Human who is a SCIS agent, a 53-year-old widower and retired Marine sniper, and presently works as the head of the SCIS Major Case Response Team stationed in Washington, D.C. He was typically referred to by his boss, Michael Franks, as "Probie" or "Gunny", a reference to his military rank of Gunnery Sergeant, something that continues to this day. Gibbs rose through the ranks until he was put in charge of the Major Case Response Team. He is often referred to as "Boss" or other humorous variations thereof by the members of his team.
