The Main rift array is a device created by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in 2379 to enter the primary universe. Starfleet captured one in 2379 and stuided it for 5 years. The array works by activating a tachyon pulse to open the rift. To close the rift the starship must recalibrate its deflector array to emit an anti-tachyon pulse.
