In the dark mirror universe, the Meru was a Bajoran Ornathia class warship in service to the Bajoran military, under the command of Colonel Kira Nerys in 2373. The Meru and her sister ships were built after the Bajorans had defeated the Cardassian Union and were expanding into new territories.
History[]
By 2373, Kira was in command of the Bajoran Ornathia class warship Meru. Kira named her warship Meru after her mother Kira Meru. Kira choose a Terran first officer instead of a Bajoran first officer. Kira's first officer was Terran Commander Typhuss James Halliwell. The Meru was sent on missions to fight Klingon-Romulan Alliance ships and outposts and shipyards for the Emipre.
Overview[]
The Meru was conceived as Empire's first warship in response to the many new threats faced by the Empire in the mid-24th century. The vessels were purposed as a compact design, packing a great deal of weaponry into a very small, maneuverable ship. The class has a compact warp core that produces enough energy to power a vessel four times larger than the class.

The Meru was fitted with a Romulan cloaking device and assigned to Deep Space 9 in 2373.
