She was born in 2343 to Catherine Halsey and Jacob Keyes while living with her mother up until 2353, she was eventually sent to live with her father changing her last name to Keyes soon after she would live on Luna and wanted to apply to Starfleet Marine Academy at the age of 16 and was accepted.

Miranda was accepted to the Academy's pre-enlistment training at age 16, being the second-youngest to ever have attended the school. After graduating with honors, she immediately requested assignment to active duty.
12th Battalion[]
She was assigned to the 12th Battalion in 2356 during the Federation-Cardassian War, and fought against the Cardassian soldiers in various battles of the war. And was returned to Earth after the war was over so she can enjoy the peace time she taught at the Starfleet Marine Corps Academy.
