The NX-Alpha class is a United Earth starship design type in service in a potential version of the 22nd century.
History[]
Technical data[]
Other[]
A schematic of NX-Alpha included references to its field impeller (port and starboard), field gen overthruster (port and starboard), auxiliary power bus-2 (port) and 3 (starboard), pylon torsion regulator, hydraulic manifold 33 (port) and 34 (starboard), plasma conduits, forward field flow sensors (port and starboard), TPS regulation sensor, environmental systems, forward DFI sensors, command avionics bay, forward radiation grid, and crew ejection module.
Life support[]
- Oxygen generators
- Gravity plating
- Inertial dampeners
- Heat shield
- Radiation shield
Tactical[]
Weapon systems[]
Plasma cannons[]
It featured multiple plasma cannons that fired a plasma discharge in the form of a beam or a burst similar to the plasma bullets fired by hand-held plasma weapons, but much bigger in size.
Defensive systems[]
- Hull polarisation: In lieu of regular deflector shields, the class incorporates a polarization matrix in its hull plating to minimize potential damage from weapons fire and other space hazards. Through the application of electromagnetic power, the metal hull of the ship can be made several orders of magnitude harder than it is in its non-polarized state.
Propulsion[]
FTL[]
The class was technically the first Earth vessel to possess a field-tested warp five engine thus enabling it to achieve speeds nearing factor 5 which it was able to sustain for 6+ hours.
It worked by generating warp fields to form a subspace bubble that enveloped the starship, distorting the local spacetime continuum and moving the starship at velocities that could greatly exceed the speed of light.
Sub-light[]
NX-Alpha class ships possess aft-facing impulse drives for accomplishing sub-light velocity such as .25 the speed of light.
