The Neptune class is a United Earth starship design type in service to Starfleet of a potential 22nd century.

History[]

Technical data[]

Propulsion[]

FTL[]

It is equipped with a warp drive that works by generating warp fields to form a subspace bubble that enveloped the starship, distorting the local spacetime continuum and moving the starship at velocities that could greatly exceed the speed of light.

Neptune class ships were limited in speed to warp factor 2.

Sub-light[]

The class features an impulse engine that consisted of essentially an augmented fusion rocket, usually consisting of one or more fusion reactors, a driver coil assembly, and a vectored thrust nozzle to direct the plasma exhaust.

Energy generation[]

The ship is primarily powered by a matter x antimatter reactor which generated enormous amounts of power through explosive collisions releasing pure light (energy) which is then harnessed directly into FTL systems and regulated through a matrix of magnets and dilithium.

It features two impulse reactors, fueled by deuterium, which utilises a nuclear fusion process that generates energised plasma that is then fed into the primary systems.

Life support[]

  1. Oxygen generators
  2. Inertial dampeners
  3. Gravity plating
  4. Heat shield
  5. Radiation shield

Tactical[]

Weapon systems[]

Plasma cannons[]

It is armed with two directed plasma cannons that fire pulsed bolts and/or beams of red plasma particle discharge at a target.

Torpedoes[]

The class features one torpedo launch bank that shoots out self-propelled torpedoes each armed with nuclear warheads.

Defensive systems[]

  • Hull polarisation: In lieu of regular deflector shields, they incorporate a polarization matrix in its hull plating to minimize potential damage from weapons fire and other space hazards. Through the application of electromagnetic power, the metal hull of the ship can be made several orders of magnitude harder than it is in its non-polarized state.

Trivia[]

  • The class is named after the eighth planet in the Sol system - Neptune.
