EXT. ARCHANIS SYSTEM, ARCHANIS IV ORBIT [OPTICAL]
The sheer unending blackness of space. Illuminated by the occasional twinkle of far away stars in the distance.
Scrolling text-appears on screen:
After the historic mission of the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk and his crew, they were hailed as heroes and received awards and promotions. As most like Doctor McCoy and Commander Spock retired.
But most in Starfleet are wanting the Enterprise to be re-launched on a second five-year mission of exploration with new state of the art technologies that Starfleet has been working on developing. But the question on everyone's mind is who will command her?
We see a shot of a Federation battlegroup led by the USS Excalibur NCC-1705 a Constitution-Class heavy cruiser as we see several different types of Starfleet vessels in the battlegroup as Federation fighters flyby.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS EXCALIBUR [RED ALERT]
[KLAXON BLARES] As the crew are at their battle stations.
CPT. HARRIS: Report?
CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER: So far nothing on long or short range sensors sir.
Captain Harris sits in the Captain's chair.
CPT. HARRIS: Mister Branson weapons status?
Lieutenant Branson taps commands into the tactical console.
LT. BRANSON: Phaser banks are fully charged, photon torpedoes are fully loaded and ready for launch on your orders sir and shields are at 100%.
[SENSORS BEEP] As the chief science officer reports.
CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER: Sir, long range sensors have detected several vessels dropping out of warp they read as Klingon.
CPT. HARRIS: Let's see them.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows several Klingon battle cruisers, heavy cruisers, destroyers, frigates dropping out of warp one at a time.
As Captain Harris slowly gets up from the Captain's chair shocked at the sight of the Klingon vessels appearing.
ON EVERYONE REACTING
COM OFFICER: Sir, Admiral April has ordered us to begin the attack.
CPT. HARRIS: Helm, come to course 2-0-4 mark twelve. Mister Branson standby phasers full spread.
Helm officer taps commands into the helm console.
HELM OFFICER: Aye, sir coming to course two-zero-four mark twelve now.
CPT. HARRIS: Mister Branson lock phasers.
Lieutenant Branson taps commands into the tactical console.
LT. BRANSON: Phasers locked on sir.
CPT. HARRIS: FIRE!
Lieutenant Branson presses the firing button on the console.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The two battlegroups collide as phasers and disruptor fire fills the darkness of space as Federation fighters dogfight with the Klingon fighters. As a D16-class dreadnought fires at one of the Starfleet frigates destroying it utterly as the Federation-Class Dreadnought provides cover for the Federation fighters.
As the Excalibur fires her phasers and photons destroying a D7-class warship as well a D6-class cruiser as her shield armor flickers and crackles.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS EXCALIBUR [RED ALERT]
[BOOM!] As the crew braces themselves as sparks erupt from the ceiling and console screens flicker.
LT. BRANSON: Shields down to 95%!
CPT. HARRIS: Return fire!
LT. BRANSON: Aye, sir.
[BOOM!] As Lieutenant Branson braces himself he turns to see his comrades bloody, wounded and dead.
LT. BRANSON [shocked]: WHOA! What the hell!
CPT. HARRIS: Where were you Lieutenant?
COM OFFICER: We needed you to help us.
HELM OFFICER: It's your fault that we died, you left us for a much better vessel!
John's up against the console as he turns to the viewer.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows not a Klingon fleet but the USS Enterprise under the control of the M5 computer as a torpedo streaks towards the bridge.
[BOOM!] A bright flash.

YEAR: 2269
STARDATE: 6147.3
Three years after the M5-incident.
John jolts up as he looks around the darken room as he sees his girlfriend Jessica next to him, he gets out of bed and walks to the bathroom area.
INT. BATHROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTER, USS ENTERPRISE
John goes into the bathroom area and looks into the mirror and splashes water into his face, as we see the pain and guilt that he wasn't there to protect his former crew members.
As Jessica walks up behind him and wraps her arms around his waist and lays her face on his back.
JESSICA: Same dream?
John turns to her and nods.
JOHN [sighs]: Yeah, its been three-years since the M5-incident claimed the lives of 430 men and women aboard the Excalibur, my friends and family. Who had my back during my court martial and divorce from Mikalea.
Jessica kisses him.
JESSICA: John, you need to get help.
John walks out of the bathroom area as Jessica follows him out.
INT. BEDROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
They walk to the bed as John sits on the bed and Jessica sits behind him and wraps her arms around him.
JOHN: Its just the counselor is a bit of a quack.
[INTERCOM WHISTLES] As Commander Ivanova comes over the com.
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: Bridge to Captain Branson
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson here.
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: We've arrived at the first of the power stations that went off-line Captain
CPT. BRANSON [sighs, to com]: I'll be right there Z.
John ends the com chat as he turns to Jessica.
JESSICA [sighs]: Well guess the rendezvous with the Excelsior will have to wait.
John holds her close.
JOHN [smiles]: We'll get you there don't worry Jess.
They kiss as John gets dressed and EXITS the quarters.
EXT. FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]
The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 a Constitution-class heavy cruiser travels at impulse through space approaching one of the power stations.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
The crew are at their stations.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson wearing his golden Starfleet uniform walks onto the bridge as he's adjusting the sleeves.
CPT. BRANSON: Report?
LCDR. IVANOVA: Starfleet's communique was accurate. All three power stations in this system have been completely drained.
Commander Ivanova vacates the Captain's chair and walks over to one of the stations as John sits in the Captain's chair.
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: Any idea as to what caused it?
Commander Williams sits at the engineering station turns to chime in.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: I bet its the Klingons stealing the power station's power cells again.
Commander T'Lar turns from her station.
LCDR. T'LAR: There is no evidence to support that theory Commander.
Commander Williams turns from her console.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: That's because it wasn't a theory T'Lar it was a joke.
She turns back to her station.
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: Something must of drained them? Those power stations were anchored in this system with the purpose of providing energy for passing Federation ships.
Ensign Carlson turns to report.
ENS. CARLSON: Captain, I'm registering a minor drain in engine power.
Captain Branson turns to Commander Williams.
CPT. BRANSON: Steph?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Checking now sir.
Commander Williams taps commands into the engineering console and reports.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Slight but noticeable.
CPT. BRANSON: Any danger to us?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Not yet sir, but I don't like it. I can't even tell you what's causing it.
Captain Branson sits back in the Captain's chair.
CPT. BRANSON: Alright, T'Lar scan the station. for any clues as to the power loss.
LCDR. T'LAR: Aye, sir.
Commander T'Lar turns to her console and taps commands into the science console to scan the power station, when Ensign Mitchell reports.
ENS. MITCHELL: Captain, I'm reading something 320,000 kilometers off the starboard bow.
CPT. BRANSON: On screen let's see it.
ANGLE - TRANSPARENT VIEWER [OPTICAL]
shows the strange looking object.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Doctor Carlson walks onto the bridge.
DR. CARLSON: What in blazes is that?
CPT. BRANSON: T'Lar what are we looking at?
Commander T'Lar turns from her station.
LCDR. T'LAR: It is an object of unknown origin.
CPT. BRANSON: Kara bring us about, Jack raise shields.
Lieutenant Mason taps commands into the tactical console and reports.
LTJG. MASON: Captain, shields aren't responding!
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: What?
LCDR. T'LAR: Power drain has accelerated the source of the drain is the anomaly directly ahead.
CPT. BRANSON: T'Lar can we do anything about it?
LCDR. T'LAR: Unknown.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [urgent]: Ship's systems, including life support at 54% and falling!
CPT. BRANSON [worried]: What is it? A machine? An organism?
LCDR. T'LAR: Unknown.
CPT. BRANSON: That's an awful lot of unknowns T'Lar! I need answers. Go to red alert!
[LIGHTS DIMMED, KLAXONS BLARE] As crew rushes to their battle stations.
CPT. BRANSON: Ensign back us off!
Ensign Carlson taps commands into the helm console.
ENS. CARLSON [urgent]: Helm, not responding sir!
Captain Branson turns to Lieutenant Smith at the communications station.
CPT. BRANSON: Julia, anything?
LTJG. SMITH: Nothing sir. I've tried friendship messages on all known hailing frequencies.
[LIGHTS AND CONSOLES screens start flickering as power hums down] As Captain Branson looks around the bridge.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [urgent]: Ship's power fading fast, she's at 29% and falling!
CPT. BRANSON: Not without a fight ready phasers!
LCDR. WILLIAMS: We don't have enough power for phasers. I had to divert power to life support systems.
CPT. BRANSON: Photon torpedoes!
LCDR. WILLIAMS: We might have enough power for one.
CPT. BRANSON: Lock a photon torpedo on it. Dead center!
Lieutenant Mason taps commands into the tactical console.
LTJG. MASON: Torpedo locked onto it sir.
CPT. BRANSON: Fire!
Lieutenant Mason pressed the firing button on the console.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
A close up of the port launcher launching a photon as the red energy blot streaks towards the object.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
ENS. MITCHELL: 20 seconds till impact!
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Power levels at 14%!
Commander T'Lar turns to report.
LCDR. T'LAR [off console]: Captain, I am detecting two lifeforms in the center of the anomaly.
CPT. BRANSON [surprised]: A lifeform?
DR. CARLSON: John?
LCDR. T'LAR: Readings are very faint but definite.
DR. CARLSON: John, you don't know anything about them. They could need our help.
CPT. BRANSON: Steph, can we use the transporters?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: No way sir! Power levels at 9%!
ENS. MITCHELL: Impact in 10 seconds!
DR. CARLSON: JOHN!
CPT. BRANSON: We're out of options!
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The torpedo struck the object destroying it.
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE [RED ALERT]
[LIGHTS STOP FLICKERING]
[POWER HUMS BACK TO NORMAL] As Commander Williams looks at the console.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Power levels at 12%, 19% increasing steadily.
Commander T'Lar scans the destroyed object.
LCDR. T'LAR: Our torpedo broke off small pieces of the anomaly. The bulk is still intact but it is no longer a threat. I detect no life signs.
Captain Branson's distraught that he had to give the order to fire.
CPT. BRANSON [distraught]: Cancel red alert.
[LIGHTS BRIGHTEN UP] As John looks over at Doctor Carlson.
CPT. BRANSON: I'm sorry Steven it couldn't be helped.
DR. CARLSON: Its alright John I understand its just hard to see the taking of any life, even if its to save our own.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: 24%, 31% still climbing.
Commander T'Lar reports.
LCDR. T'LAR: Captain, I am detecting an energy build-up.
CPT. BRANSON: Where is it going to?
Commander T'Lar taps commands into the science console and reports.
LCDR. T'LAR: Deck 1, Main Bridge.
Then all of the sudden two figures materialized as Captain Branson, Commander T'Lar, Lieutenant Smith, and Doctor Carlson see this as its reveals to be Apollo and Athena.

CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's Log Stardate 6147.3, While investigating the mysterious drain of our fuel depots the Enterprise, encountered a strange object that started to drain our power. We were forced to destroy it
INT. MAIN BRIDGE, USS ENTERPRISE
As before.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over, continuing]: When all of the sudden two beings materialized on the bridge, one which is Apollo the Greek God of music and Athena the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, and handicraft. Apollo was encountered by Captain Kirk three years ago on Pollux IV but he's much older then what was in Kirk's reports.
Lieutenant Mason toggles the com panel on his station.
LTJG. MASON [to com, sotto]: Security to the bridge.
CPT. BRANSON [surprised]: Apollo?
Apollo looks at him then to the female in his arms.
APOLLO: Athena?
ATHENA [panting]: A thousand years in a day.
APOLLO: Rest dearest. We continue because of you.
ATHENA [panting]: You continue I am pleased that the final image my eyes behold is that of your face.
APOLLO: No we're safe together I forbid it.
ATHENA [panting]: Live for us.
Athena dies as Apollo looks upon her.
APOLLO [saddened]: Sleep dwell upon thine eyes. Peace in thy breast. Would I, we'll sleep in peace. So sweet to rest. Travel gently beloved Athena.
Athena vanished as Apollo is still saddened by her death.
LTJG. SMITH [confused]: W-Where did she go?
Apollo turns to her.
APOLLO [saddened]: I don't know emptiness.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Ensigns Johnson and Austin walk onto the bridge as Doctor Carlson goes to Apollo and checks his pulse.
DR. CARLSON: I don't know what I can do for you but I'll see what I can do.
They gently help Apollo up as Doctor Carlson follows as Apollo dropped something.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED THEN CLOSED] As Julia picks up the pendant and looks at it as John walks over to Commander Williams at the engineering console.
CPT. BRANSON: Commander, do we have enough power to go to warp?
Commander Williams taps commands into the engineering console and turns to face him.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: I believe so but let's keep it at low warp till I know that we have full power.
Captain Branson walks to the command well.
CPT. BRANSON: Ensign Carlson resume our course to Starbase 13.
ENS. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Ensign Carlson taps commands into the helm console.
EXT. FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise turns to port and her warp engines power up and she shoots off into the distance into a burst of light.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
The senior staff are around the table except for Doctor Carlson who's treating the elderly Apollo.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Power's stabilized for now sir.
CPT. BRANSON: That's good as soon as you can get us to warp seven I'm sure Captain Smith would like to get to the Yorktown to assume command of the vessel.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [nods]: Aye, sir.
Captain Branson looks at the others.
CPT. BRANSON: Now let's discuss our unexpected guest.
Commander Ivanova turns to face them.
LCDR. IVANOVA: I was able to dig up what we have on Apollo.
CPT. BRANSON: What do you have Z?
Commander Ivanova taps commands into the panel.
ANGLE - WALL MONITOR [OPTICAL]

LCDR. IVANOVA: On Stardate 3468.1 the crew of the USS Enterprise under Captain Kirk entered the Beta Geminorum System around Pollux IV. A landing party led by Captain Kirk encountered the Greek God Apollo he disabled their gear.
LCDR. T'LAR: He also took a crewmember hostage a Lieutenant Carolyn Palamas.
CPT. BRANSON: According to Jim she went willing to protect her crewmates and Mister Scott.
LCDR. IVANOVA: They were able to defeat him and rescue Lieutenant Palamas.
Captain Branson leans back in the chair.
CPT. BRANSON: So? What is he doing here?
LTJG. SMITH: According to the log he went to some sort of realm after he was defeated by Kirk.
CPT. BRANSON: Why is he here aboard this vessel then we're light-years away from Pollux IV?
LCDR. T'LAR [raised an eyebrow]: His mate transported him and her with the last bit of her energy.
Captain Branson turns to Lieutenant Smith.
CPT. BRANSON: Lieutenant Smith inform Starfleet of our situation.
LTJG. SMITH: Aye, sir.
The senior staff EXITS the ready room.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]

INT. SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
Apollo lays in the biobed as he's under guard as Doctor Carlson is scanning him and Lieutenant Commander Lindsey Tanner is observing him.
[SICKBAY DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson enters as Commander Tanner walks up to him.
LCDR. TANNER: Captain, Lieutenant Commander Lindsey Tanner ship's counselor I was recently posted here...
CPT. BRANSON: Now's not a good time Commander.
Captain Branson walks over to Doctor Carlson.
CPT. BRANSON: Report Doctor?
DR. CARLSON [crosses arms, sighs]: It's damn peculiar, sir. His vitals are stable for now. Can't tell how long though, especially in the condition he's in.
CPT. BRANSON [confused]: Condition?
DR. CARLSON: He's dying like any mortal human.
CPT. BRANSON: What about that uh extra organ?
DR. CARLSON: It's still there, but its barely detectable. I had to run three bioscans just to find the damn thing.
John walks over to the biobed.
CPT. BRANSON: Apollo, I'm John Branson Captain of the Federation Starship USS Enterprise. I've read a lot about you in Kirk's mission reports.
APOLLO: It is very nice to meet you Captain, you have extended an undeserved act of kindness considering my history with this vessel. For that I am grateful.
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: Don't mention it. What's the meaning of the attack on my ship?
APOLLO: The attack was my doing. When we sensed your weapon approach. Athena sacrificed the last of her energy to allow us to both escape the realm.
DR. CARLSON [confused]: The realm?
APOLLO: It was created by our race eons ago to be a place of eternal respite.
They continue to listen.
APOLLO [Cont'd]: The realm was to provide the energy for us to live on through eternity.
LCDR. T'LAR: Clearly it did not work out how your people planned.
Apollo nods.
APOLLO: No Here, Poseidon, and my beloved Artemis were the first to arrive. The realm drained them of their life energy until the were too weak to escape.
CPT. BRANSON: How did it happen?
APOLLO: A malfunction caused it to siphon power from any nearby source of energy. Wheter organic or artifical.
CPT. BRANSON: The power stations?
DR. CARLSON: And your rapid aging.
Apollo nods.
APOLLO: Even a God without worship quickly witters. Because I waited for you my children, I was the last to arrive. I wasn't prepared for what I discovered.
LCDR. TANNER: They were dying.
APOLLO [nods]: Yes. What was meant to be our sanctuary became our prison.
Captain Branson looks at the others then back to Apollo.
APOLLO: One by one, my brothers and sisters slipped into oblivion and I was powerless to save them.
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: Apollo, I sympathize, Apollo. But your presences aboard this ship is a great concern.
APOLLO: Then hear my plea. I ask you to take me to a world where mortals exist so I can feel the warmth of the sun an evening breeze on my face.
CPT. BRANSON: No, I can't take the risk that you'll play God. That you'll force on an unsuspecting race.
APOLLO: I no longer want worship from anyone.
CPT. BRANSON: How do I know that you won't force them?
APOLLO: I swear to you upon all Olympus, by the holy temple itself. I only desire to spend my remaining days among them as one of them.
CPT. BRANSON: I'm sorry but its to big of a risk. And one I'm not ready to take.
Doctor Carlson walks over to John.
DR. CARLSON: Captain, maybe we should let him rest.
Captain Branson EXITS sickbay as Commander Tanner follows.
INT. DECK SEVEN CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
Captain Branson heads to the turbolift.
LCDR. TANNER: Captain, Captain Branson?
Captain Branson turns to her.
CPT. BRANSON: Ah, yes Commander Tanner welcome aboard.
LCDR. TANNER: Thank you sir, I'm very anxious to talk about this new position.
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: I'm sure you are but for right now, I need you to help Doctor Carlson with our guest.
LCDR. TANNER [nods]: Aye, sir.
EXT. WARP SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise travels to Starbase 13.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
Captain Branson sits at the desk looking at the desktop monitor.
CPT. BRANSON: So, far we've determined that the object was the source of the draining of the power stations.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: We'll dispatch an engineering team to repair them as soon as we can
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: That's good Jim.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: What's the situation of your guest Apollo?
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: So, far the situation is that he's laid up in Sickbay. After he and his lover transported aboard the ship.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: Has he made any demands?
Captain Branson leans forward.
CPT. BRANSON: To go to a world where he can live out the rest of his days among us mortals.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: What did you tell him?
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: I had to refuse his offer because I feared that he'd demand the worship of the people of whatever world we set him on.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: Good we don't need him preying on people to have power. What's your ETA to Starbase 13?
CPT. BRANSON: We should arrive at Starbase 13 in a few days at our current speed.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: That's good I'm sure the crew of the Excelsior will be happy to have their new Captain aboard her, Commander Sulu has been drilling them for a few days they'll be happy to get to work
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: Yeah, Jess has been reviewing the crew profiles and she's ready to take command.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: That's good keep me posted on Apollo's condition and your course
CPT. BRANSON [nods]: Aye, sir.
FCPT. KIRK [monitor]: Kirk out
Transmission ends as John leans back in the chair thinking about the situation.

LCDR. WILLIAMS: Yes, that stuff got into our systems I was able to close the intake manifolds but the failsafe to the warp drive activated we dropped out of warp a short while ago.
CPT. BRANSON: How long till you can clear the junk from the intake manifolds?

APOLLO [smiles]: The company of a beautiful woman is always welcomed.
LCDR. TANNER [smiles]: You're just as charming as she said you were.
APOLLO [confused]: She?
LCDR. TANNER: Lieutenant Palmas, Carolyn.
APOLLO [smiles]: Carolyn! The only woman to ever spurn my love.
LCDR. TANNER: She did so out of dedication to her shipmates. She also said that it was the most difficult thing she'd ever done.
APOLLO: Why doesn't she declare this herself?
LCDR. TANNER: She died.
APOLLO [saddened]: Carolyn's also gone as well?
Lindsey nods.
LCDR. TANNER: After her experience with you she decided to leave the ship, she died while helping some colonist who were infected by a plague.
APOLLO [saddened]: Such sacrifice by such beauty. She's even more then I immediately knew her to be. A rare treasure, Commander Tanner.
LCDR. TANNER [smiles]: Lindsey.

JESSICA: Can't sleep?
John turns to her.
JOHN: Nope, I'm too wired.
Jessica sits next to him.
JESSICA: Apollo?
JOHN [nods]: Yeah, he wants to be put on the surface of a planet to live out the rest of his days as a mortal. But I don't know after reading Jim's reports on his encounter with Apollo, its too great of a risk to do what he's requesting if I granted it then he'll force the people of that world to worship him and that is what's got me so conflicted about this situation.
Jessica turns to him.
JESSICA: So? You're just gonna let him die in Sickbay?
JOHN: Jess, if you read Jim's mission report you'll see where I'm coming from.
JESSICA: From what Julia has told me he seems to sincere.
Jessica lays her head on his shoulder.
JESSICA: You'll figure it out John.
They look out at the stars.
INT. JUNCTION TUBE 13, USS ENTERPRISE
Both Commander Williams and Crewmen Jones Simone are working on clearing the conduits of the debris.
CREWMEN SIMONE: Commander, we've got a bit of a situation it seems many of the fragments have gotten into the EPS conduits.
Commander Williams joins him at the relay and scans it.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Damn it that's not a good sign what do you suggest we do?
CREWMEN SIMONE: We could set up an EMP to purge the systems of the fragments but we'll have to set up a buffer to protect our key systems.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Get started on it I'll inform the Captain of the plan.
She pats his shoulder as he works Simone is struck by an electro shock as he slides from the open panel.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [shocked]: SIMONE! Medical emergency junction tube 13!

CPT. BRANSON: What's the plan to purge the fragments from our systems?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: A EMP we still have to set up a buffer to protect our key systems.
CPT. BRANSON: How long do you need?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Give me and my team a few hours to set it up.
CPT. BRANSON: Get started.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [nods]: Aye, sir.
Commander Williams EXITS the ready room.
LTJG. MASON: Apollo's responsible for this!
CPT. BRANSON: Apollo is in no condition to cause this much issue.
LTJG. MASON: Sir, he killed Simone! He's probably planning to kill us.
LCDR. T'LAR: It would be illogical for Apollo to kill us.
DR. CARLSON: I agree with T'Lar.
CPT. BRANSON: A decision has to made about Apollo and what to do with him. As my senior officers I'm bringing you in on that decision with me.
DR. CARLSON: Apollo is in no shape to do anything right now. Maybe his claims are true and all he wants is peace.
LTJG. MASON: Doctor Carlson you can't be serious? Simone would be alive if we didn't bring him aboard.
LCDR. T'LAR: Doctor Carlson's point is valid Apollo's appearance is as he said, a matter of survival.
CPT. BRANSON: I sympathize with your opinions. But not to the point where the safety of the crew is in jeopardy.
LCDR. T'LAR: We have no further facts at this time Captain.
DR. CARLSON: And he hasn't demonstrated any aggressiveness toward anyone, John. We're the ones keeping him locked up in sickbay.
LCDR. T'LAR: Captain, if our objective is to determine Apollo's true intentions, perhaps it is time we give him what is the saying "give him enough rope".
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: Something like that T'Lar.
LTJG. MASON [frustrated]: I don't believe it!
CPT. BRANSON: That's enough Lieutenant!
LTJG. MASON: Aye, sir. I'll be on the bridge.
Lieutenant Mason EXITS the ready room.
LCDR. IVANOVA: Mister Mason's mad.
CPT. BRANSON: Can you blame him he almost lost Commander Williams have a security detail accompany Apollo around the ship.

CPT. BRANSON: Well, one thing has changed I've got one less crewmen then I did an hour ago. Perhaps you can tell me how your realm managed to kill one of my men?
APOLLO: I have little knowledge of this matter Captain.
CPT. BRANSON: That's not good enough Apollo. Look Apollo, if you want our help, you're going to have to start providing some answers.
Apollo thinks.
APOLLO: The realm thrives on energy, survival became its sole purpose. Athena and I were its prisoners had your ship not been so close we would have been unable to escape.
Captain Branson crosses his arms.
APOLLO: Perhaps you've considered my request Captain?
CPT. BRANSON: I have a responsibility to my Federation's non-interference directive. To allow someone with your history to descend upon some planet and set up church.
APOLLO [frustrated]: Your history tapes show how humans have evolved as a species yet your Federations promises of compassion and benevolence seem little more then words!
Captain Branson stands at the foot of the bed.
CPT. BRANSON: Is that all you learned from our history?
Captain Branson paces about.
CPT. BRANSON: I assure you our decision will be a just one. In the meantime if you're feeling up to it. You may walk about the ship get to know present day humanity from some of its best representives my crew.
Apollo nods and Captain Branson heads for the doors.
APOLLO: It seems that I wasn't forgotten about after all.
He turns the screen to show the footage of the Apollo 8 launch.
CPT. BRANSON: Yes you were remembered but not as a God.
Apollo has a look on his face as John EXITS sickbay.
EXT. SPACE [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise's at station keeping.
INT. DECK SEVEN CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
Apollo walks along the corridor as Ensigns Johnson and Austin are escorting him wearing tactical vests and type-II phasers in the holsters.
INT. MESS HALL, USS ENTERPRISE
The crew are enjoying their meals as both Jessica and Julia are sitting at one of the tables.
JULIA: So how's it going with you and John?
JESSICA: Great he's a great guy Julia.
[MESS HALL DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Apollo and the two guards enter.
JESSICA: There's our guest.
Julia turns to see Apollo and gets up from the chair and walks over to him.
JULIA: You dropped this.
She shows him the pendant.
JULIA: I was keeping it safe till I could return it to you.
APOLLO [smiles]: Then you'll honor me by keeping it safe still.
He closes her hand.
JULIA: I've heard about you from Kirk's reports you're the Greek God of music.
APOLLO: That I am or I was.
Apollo starts singing.
[CREW CLAPS] As Apollo smiles.
APOLLO: You're too kind my children its good to see that my music is still respected.
He faces them.
APOLLO: You know Marsyas once challenged me to a contest of music.
CREWMEN: Who's Marsyas?
APOLLO: He was a satyr who believed that he could play a flute better then I could play my iyre. After we both played, the muses declared the contest a tie. Until I decreed that we both play and sing at the same time. An impossible feat for Marsyas.
Jessica is watching this.
CUT TO:
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
John looks at the monitor.
[INTERCOM WHISTLES] As Commander Williams comes over the com.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [com voice]: Williams to Captain Branson
Captain Branson toggles the com panel on his desk.
CPT. BRANSON: Branson here go ahead.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [com voice]: We're about ready to purge the systems of the fragments from that strange object
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: That's good Commander what about the buffer to protect our key systems?
CUT TO:
INT. MAIN ENGINEERING, USS ENTERPRISE
Commander Williams stands at the main console.
LCDR. WILLIAMS [to com]: It'll be ready by the time I have the EMP set up.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Let me know when you've got it set up Commander.
He toggles to com panel off.
[READY ROOM DOORS CHIMED] As Captain Branson looks over at the doors.
CPT. BRANSON: Come.
[READY ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Commander Tanner enters.
LCDR. TANNER: Captain. I thought now would be a good time to have that chat.
CPT. BRANSON [smiles]: Sure. Have a seat Commander.
Commander Tanner sits in the chair in front of the desk.
CPT. BRANSON: I've read your file you graduated top of your class at Starfleet Academy. You were aboard Starbase 22 for a few years before you heard about this new position.
LCDR. TANNER: I've read your file as well you were previously assigned to this vessel during Captain Pike's command.
CPT. BRANSON: Yes I was he taught me everything I know about Starship command.
LCDR. TANNER: Captain, part of my job is to assess the psychological condition of all aboard--even alien lifeforms like Apollo--and make recommendations.
CPT. BRANSON: And I'm sure that you got one.
LCDR. TANNER: Yes, if he is sincere then it should be easy to grant his request.
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: Its not that easy Commander after reading Kirk's mission report on his encounter with Apollo, how do I know that he won't set up church on any planet that we drop him off on?
LCDR. TANNER: I've spoken with him he seems sincere about his intentions to just want peace.
[INTERCOM WHISTLES] As Jessica comes over the com.
CPT. SMITH [com voice]: Smith to Branson
Captain Branson toggles the com panel.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson here go ahead Jess what's wrong?
CPT. SMITH [com voice]: Can you come to the Mess Hall there's something you need to see
Both Branson and Tanner look at each other.
CUT TO:
INT. MESS HALL, USS ENTERPRISE
[APOLLO PREACHING]
[MESS HALL DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson and Commander Tanner enters.
CPT. BRANSON: How long has he been at it?
Jessica turns to him.
CPT. SMITH: About a few hours.
CPT. BRANSON: APOLLO!
He looks over at Captain Branson as the officers in the mess hall does as well.
CPT. BRANSON: Can I have a word with you?
Apollo walks out of the Mess Hall.
INT. DECK SEVEN CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
[MESS HALL DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson walks out of the mess hall as Apollo and the others follow.
CPT. BRANSON: What was that? Your idea of Olympia honor? You assured us that you had no desire of worship. This is a funny way of showing us that you want our help.
APOLLO: I-I do not know what came over me Captain.
CPT. BRANSON: If you want our help you've got to prove to us that you want it.
Then Apollo pushes John back as both Austin and Johnson get out their phasers but he knocks them out of their hands and throws the two guards back as he picks up John tosses him around and has him floating in the air.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT TWO]
Act 3[]
FADE IN
INT. DECK SEVEN CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
John's at the mercy of Apollo.
CPT. BRANSON: Is this a preview of what you'll do to an unsuspected planet! Well you'll never get there you'll die alone! Is that what you want?
APOLLO: I want what is mine! Humanity's worship and love!
CPT. BRANSON: THEY NEVER LOVED YOU! THEY FEARED YOU AND YOUR POWER!
APOLLO: ENOUGH! Receive the wages of your blasphemy!
Then a phaser beam hits him in the back causing him to lose his focus and John falls to the floor as Apollo turns to see that Commander Tanner holds the phaser.
LCDR. TANNER [distraught]: I'm sorry.
Johnson hands Austin his phaser as they walk to Apollo.
ENS. JOHNSON: You're going to brig.
CPT. BRANSON: No, take him to sickbay have Doctor Carlson put him in restraints if he resists.
The guards escort Apollo to sickbay.
CPT. BRANSON [to the officers]: All right everyone back to your stations.
The officers head back to their posts.
CPT. SMITH: John, are you ok?
CPT. BRANSON: Yeah I'm good I guess Lieutenant Mason was right.
CPT. SMITH: How so?
CPT. BRANSON: You were here Jess you saw what happened.
CPT. SMITH: Yeah I saw what happened.
CPT. BRANSON: Well, one thing is for sure apparently you can teach a God new tricks.
John heads for the nearest turbolift as Jessica follows close behind.
INT. SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
[SICKBAY DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson enters.
DR. CARLSON: Hold it Captain he's in restraints he didn't resist he offered his wrists.
Captain Branson walks over to the biobed that Apollo is laying in.
CPT. BRANSON: What happened Apollo?
APOLLO: What words can I offer Captain?
CPT. BRANSON: How about an explaination.
APOLLO: Even a God can lose control.
CPT. BRANSON: What are you talking about?
DR. CARLSON: The organ you have? The source of your powers that's what made you lose control?
APOLLO: Yes. In order for me to live among mortals it must be removed.
Captain Branson looks at Doctor Carlson.
CPT. BRANSON: Can it be done?
DR. CARLSON: Well, I don't know Captain. Its removing an organ is straightforward enough stuff, but considering how vital.
APOLLO: I accept whatever risk. My powers must be extinguished permanently. If I am to survive. And no God. No one. Should survive on fear.
CPT. BRANSON: Its your call Steven.
APOLLO: Please Doctor you're my only hope.
Camera pans in on Doctor Carlson.
EXT. FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]

CUT TO:
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
The senior staff are around the table.
[READY ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Doctor Carlson enters adjusting his sleeves.
CPT. BRANSON: Thanks to the efforts of our good Doctor its probable that Apollo no longer has the urge to thrive on the worship of others. There for I'd like to revisit the discussion to resettle him.
LCDR. IVANOVA: I've been going through the planets that we can settle him on but so far most are near the Klingon Neutral Zone and Romulan Neutral Zone as well.
Doctor Carlson sits next to his wife.
DR. CARLSON: Well with any surgery we'll have to wait and see for awhile but I'm fairly certain that he's harmless now.
LCDR. T'LAR: I believe Apollo's sincerity and intention were demonstrated by volunteering to have the organ removed.
LTJG. MASON: Forgive me for saying so but it seems like a lot of wishful thinking. We have nothing but Apollo's word that the removal of the organ would make a bit of difference.
DR. CARLSON: Then what do you suggest we do Lieutenant?
LTJG. MASON [sighs]: I don't know. All I'm saying is that if we turn him loose on an unsuspecting world it will scream certain disaster.
CPT. BRANSON: So we've got no consensus. Doc continuing monitoring Apollo's condition let me know of any sudden changes.
DR. CARLSON [nods]: Aye, sir.
CPT. BRANSON: Commander Williams what's the status of your operation?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: We're just about ready to clear the ship systems of that gunk.
LCDR. IVANOVA: What about protecting our key systems?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: The buffer will activate when I activate the EMP charge.
LCDR. T'LAR: I will monitor Commander Williams progress on the bridge.
CPT. BRANSON: How long till its ready?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: I can have it ready to go as soon as possible.
CPT. BRANSON: Very well then dismissed.
The senior staff EXITS the ready room as Doctor Carlson walks up to Captain Branson.
CPT. BRANSON: Apollo giving himself up for surgery was a bold move.
DR. CARLSON: Yeah it was but all I know is that if we don't come to a consensus soon instead of feeling the warmth of the sun Apollo will die in sickbay.
CPT. BRANSON: I know Steven I know.
EXT. FEDERATION SPACE [OPTICAL]

INT. DOCTOR CARLSON'S OFFICE/SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE

CPT. BRANSON: I thought removing that organ would de-power him Doc?
DR. CARLSON: I'm at a lost for words Captain. But I can tell you that he has more energy then he did after the surgery I can't explain how.
CPT. BRANSON: Sacrifice. Why not? We've seen species throughout the galaxy that have drawn energy from different sources.
LCDR. IVANOVA: It could be possible.
They walk out of the office.
INT. SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
The trio walks over to both Apollo and Commander Tanner.
CPT. BRANSON: How are you feeling?
APOLLO: Great.
DR. CARLSON: What was that?
APOLLO: When I saw Lieutenant Smith's lifeless body and all of you sad and distraught I felt like I should do something about it and I just did it.
LCDR. TANNER: He felt moved by it.
CUT TO:
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
The Senior staff are gathered around the table.
CPT. BRANSON: And that, everyone, is where we stand.
LCDR. T'LAR: I do believe that Apollo has demonstrated that he can be trusted to be among mortals as he puts it.
LCDR. IVANOVA: I agree.
ENS. CARLSON: Our present course will take us past the Basilean epsilon system.
LCDR. T'LAR: The second planet is a simple humanoid population.
CPT. BRANSON: Apollo sacrificed himself to save one of our own and now he has put his fate in our hands. All those in favor of resettling him?
