The Quinjet class is a shuttlecraft design type operated by several United Earth agencies in a potential 22nd century timeline.
The Quinjet class is a unique, hybrid-wing shuttle with similar flight capabilities as modern VTOL aircraft and serves as a personnel transport and versatile attack vehicle.
History[]
Technical data[]
Life support[]
- Oxygen generators
- Inertial dampeners
- Gravity plating
- Heat shield
- Radiation shield
Tactical[]
Weapon systems[]
Torpedoes[]
The wings possess a rack of missile launchers that can shoot out self-propelled spatial torpedoes each armed with a mini-nuclear warhead.
Plasma cannons[]
Quinjet class vessels were armed with plasma weapons. These included two forward and one ventral mounted plasma cannons. The cannons had a range of fewer than ten kilometers. The plasma cannons could fire both plasma bullets and beam emissions.
Defensive systems[]
- Hull polarisation: In lieu of regular deflector shields, they incorporate a polarization matrix in its hull plating to minimize potential damage from weapons fire and other space hazards. Through the application of electromagnetic power, the metal hull of the ship can be made several orders of magnitude harder than it is in its non-polarized state.
Hull integrity[]
Quinjet class shuttles were protected by a ditanium hull with polarized hull plating. The hatches were reinforced with duratanium alloy, making them strong enough to withstand a quarter kiloton thermokinetic explosion at a range of twenty to twenty-five meters.
Propulsion[]
Sub-light[]
They are able to reach high atmospheric and even sub-light speeds through two powerful jet engines located at the rear of the ship. It possesses two large, angle-adjustable rotors, one housed in each wing, which grants the class its vertical take-off and landing capabilities.
The class also has adjustable wingtips that can be angled down to intensify the lift of the wing rotors and modify the movement of the ship. This gives the Quinjet unprecedented maneuverability as it can make full stops mid-air, hover in place, and make incredibly tight turns compared to conventional aircraft.
They were also equipped with several thrusters for controlled landing and maneuvering.
