The Resistance-Harvester War is an ongoing interstellar conflict between the Harvesters and an interstellar military union of extraterrestrial races.
So far, humanity has been the only recent Resistance member to successfully defeat the aliens twice, hence why the Resistance has offered them the leadership position.
Background[]
For thousands of years ago, an alien race known as the Harvesters traveled from planet to planet, consuming its natural resources and wiping out any native inhabitants that stand in their way. They rendered the planets they conquered uninhabitable after depleting its resources by using their planetary core to refuel their ships and grow their technology. The Harvesters had wiped out thousands of species in their endless consumption.
Among the species that fell to the Harvesters were an advanced race that were able to opposed them until they were ultimately rendered extinct. Only one survivor of this race, known as the "Sphere", survived and gathered other survivors from other fallen worlds to a refugee planet to form a coalition to oppose the Harvesters. For centuries, the Sphere's coalition developed weapons that could defeat the Harvesters.
War of 2016[]

The Sphere first became aware of humanity's victory against the Harvesters when it intercepted a distress transmission from Earth. Knowing that the Harvesters will retaliate, the Sphere traveled to Earth to warn and evacuate humanity. However, Earth's leaders mistook the Sphere to be hostile and shot its vessel down. The Sphere survived the attack and was salvaged by ESD Director David Levinson and took it to Area 51, just as the Harvesters came.
The Sphere properly informed the Earth Space Defense about its war against the Harvesters and its intentions. The ESD made a desperate attempt to stop the invaders by killing the Harvester Queen, despite the Sphere stating that killing a Harvester Queen has never been succeeded before. Despite the Sphere's affirmation, humanity barely succeeded in defeating the Harvesters again. The Sphere was left impressed of humanity's efforts and determination, to the point of offering them to lead its resistance and along with new technological knowledge that could advance human civilization by millennia.
