Shore Leave is the 10th episode of Star Trek: The New Voyages in TOS Season 1.
Synopsis[]
After the Second Neutral Zone incursion the crew of the USS Enterprise has returned to Earth for repairs and some well deserve R&R.

EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise is docked at the Federation dockyard.
CPT. BRANSON'S [voice over]: Captain's log stardate 5456.3, The Enterprise has returned to Earth for repairs following our harrowing encounter with the Romulans, I must lament on the lost of one of the most valued member of my crew Lieutenant Commander Robert Tomlinson he was the armory officer
INT. ARMORY, USS ENTERPRISE
Engineering team repairs the minor damage the armory sustained during the battle.
CPT. BRANSON: How long until repairs are completed?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: At least four to five days until we have full weapons capability sir.
John looks at her.
CPT. BRANSON: Steph?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: That's all I can give you for now sir I need to asset the damage further before I can give you a full report.
John hangs his head.
CPT. BRANSON [sighs]: Keep me posted.
John EXITS the armory as Stephanie has her engineering tricorder out.
INT. DECK 11 CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
John walks along the corridor as engineering teams are replacing damaged panels and relays.
[TURBOLIFT DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As John enters it.
CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
[QUARTER DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As John enters and he looks at a few PADDs as he turns to see his girlfriend Jessica.
JOHN [surprised]: Well, hello there.
JESSICA [smiles]: Hey John I am glad that you're all right I was worried when I heard what was going on along the Neutral Zone.
John puts the PADD down.
JOHN: Its good to see you again.
She takes his hand and they walk into the bedroom area and the doors closed.

Act 1[]
FADE IN
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise's docked at the Federation dockyard receiving repairs.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
Commander Ivanova sits at the briefing table with a few PADDs as an Ensign waits for her to finish.
LCDR. IVANOVA: Take these to main engineering.
The Ensign takes the PADDs and EXITS the briefing room as Lieutenant Mason enters.
LTJG. MASON: Phaser upgrades are completed Commander.
LCDR. IVANOVA [surprised]: Already?
LTJG. MASON: And we've already begun recalibration.
LCDR. IVANOVA [smiles]: You're just too damn efficient Jack.
LTJG. MASON: Yes, ma'am.
LCDR. IVANOVA [smiles]: At this rate we'll be done with the refit will be done a week early and you and I will have to take leave on Earth.
LTJG. MASON: Me and Stephanie have made plans to go down before we depart to see my parents.
Commander Ivanova picks up a PADD.
LCDR. IVANOVA [hands him a PADD]: Here's the final schedule for shore leave and personnel transfers. By the way I am looking forward to meeting your parents.
LTJG. MASON [confused]: Ma'am?
LCDR. IVANOVA: Their on the visitation list.
Jack looks over the PADD, and sees their names on the list...its a surprise to him.
LTJG. MASON: I wasn't expecting them to be on the list ma'am.
LCDR. IVANOVA: If you want.
LTJG. MASON: No its all right ma'am I've not seen them in forever so I'll go and see them.
Lieutenant Mason EXITS the briefing room as Commander Ivanova is a bit worried.
INT. BEDROOM AREA/CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
Jessica gets her golden uniform shirt on while wearing the black T-Shirt as John walks up behind her and kisses her neck.
JOHN: How long will it be before I see you again?
JESSICA: A few days the Excelsior is assigned patrol the Klingon Neutral Zone but I'll try to swing by and see you just remember that Kyle is in need of your support.
JOHN: I know dear.
They kiss and Jessica EXITS the quarters.
INT. TRANSPORTER ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
[TRANSPORTER ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Lieutenant Mason enters.
CHIEF MACKENZIE: Earth station Margo is ready to begin the beaming.
LTJG. MASON: Energize chief.
Chief Mackenzie taps commands into the console and activates the transporter beaming sequence.
[TRANSPORTER BEAM HUMS] As both Natalie and Brandon materialized on the transporter pad.
JACK [smiles]: Mother, father its good to see you again.
Jack hugs his parents.
NATALIE: Jack, its good to see you as well.
BRANDON: How are you son?
JACK: I'm good, a bit heart broken to hear what happened to Derek.
NATALIE: We all miss him so much Jack.
JACK: Come I'll show you to your quarters.
The Mason family EXITS the transporter room.
INT. LIVING ROOM/ENSIGN MITCHELL'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
[BEDROOM AREA DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Tyson walks out after getting a shower as Julia holds up the medical kit.
JULIA: I thought we discussed this?
TYSON: We did.
JULIA: And yet you're using again?
TYSON: Only small doses of morphine.
JULIA [scoffs]: You promised me that you would stop using Tyson! You know what I can't do this until you come off this I don't wanna be in your quarters for awhile even me being here makes me the one who encouraged you.
She gets her stuff.
TYSON: Julia, wait come on I'll stop using.
JULIA: No you said that last time and you're using it some more!
She gets her duffel bag and EXITS the quarters as Tyson can't believe he just lost someone he loves.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/STEVEN & T'LAR'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
Steven is cleaning the room making it spotless.
[DOORS CHIMED]
STEVEN: Come.
[QUARTER DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Kara enters.
KARA: This better be good Steven I was busy with helm calibrations.
Steven turns to her with a Vulcan robe.
STEVEN: Put that on.
KARA: You better explain before I shove this down your throat.
STEVEN: T'Lar's mom is coming aboard to visit T'Lar and I wanna make a good impression.
KARA: So, you're going to make me wear this robe?
STEVEN: Please.
KARA [groans]: Fine.
She goes to the bathroom to change out of her Starfleet uniform and into the Vulcan robe.
T'LAR: Does your sister always act like this?
STEVEN: Only if I beg her to help me.
Steven gets the Vulcan robe for the male.

Act 2[]

EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise's docked at the Federation Dockyard.
INT. MESS HALL, USS ENTERPRISE
[MESS HALL DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Jamie enters and sees John and Jessica before she departs for the Neutral Zone.
JESSICA: Hey Jamie.
The two friends hug each other.
JAMIE: Jess, John.
JOHN: Jamie.
JAMIE: What do you have to say?
JOHN: I tried to get into that trial Jamie but there was no way for me to get into it not without causing an issue with the Admiralty it was classified by Fleet Admiral Barnes but I am working on a few things to get them to restart his trial because that wasn't right they did that to him.
JAMIE: And how is that going to help?
JESSICA: Jamie, John's not giving up on Kyle and we shouldn't either he'll come back to Starfleet.
Jamie looks at them both.
JAMIE: I hope you're right Jess.
They're hanging on.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/JACK & STEPHANIE'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
Jack, Brandon, Natalie, and Stephanie are having dinner together.
BRANDON: This is good.
JACK: Thanks our Captain is basically Guy Fieri.
NATALIE: Your Captain is a good cook.
STEPHANIE: So what brings you two aboard?
BRANDON: Just to see Jack its been awhile since we've seen him before he left to be posted here we're all proud of him.
JACK: Weren't you also proud of Derek? Being promoted to the rank of Commander?
BRANDON: Yeah, but you Jack you're the tactical officer of the USS Enterprise while he was posted to Starbase 6.
JACK: He was about to take command of the USS Excalibur before his death dad if you were paying attention instead of getting drunk at Archanis IV before the Klingons slaughtered the colonist you would of noticed.
Jack leaves the table and walks to the bedroom area.
STEPHANIE: He's taking Derek's death really hard.
NATALIE: They were both close during their childhood.
Brandon looks over at his wife.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA/STEVEN & T'LAR'S QUARTERS, USS ENTERPRISE
KARA: Guys I look dumb in this.
STEVEN: Kara, you look fine come out of there.
[BATHROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Kara comes out of the bathroom wearing the Vulcan robes.
KARA: I look so stupid no offense T'Lar.
T'LAR: None taken.
[QUARTER DOORS CHIMED]
STEVEN: Come in.
[QUARTER DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As T'Roz T'Lar's mother enters.
T'LAR: Mother it is agreeable to see you again.
T'ROZ: You as well T'Lar.
T'LAR: This is my husband Doctor Steven Carlson ship's chief medical officer.
STEVEN: T'Roz its good to see you again.
T'Roz nods at Steven.
T'LAR: And his sister Ensign Kara Carlson ship's helm officer.
KARA: Hi I'm here against my will.
T'Roz raises an eyebrow and turns to the table and inspects the dishes.
T'ROZ: Vulcan dishes?
STEVEN: Yes T'Lar told me that you would prefer Vulcan dishes.
She looks at Steven.
T'ROZ: Impressive.
STEVEN: Talking let's eat.
They sit at the table to have dinner.
INT. GYM, USS ENTERPRISE
John's punching a punching bag as he's thinking about how he let Kyle down during his trial and how he should of fought his way into that hearing room.
[GYM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Commander Ivanova enters.
LCDR. IVANOVA: You know if you keep that up you'll pull a muscle.
John turns to Zhasa.
JOHN: Maybe but at least it would make me feel better.
John sits on the floor as Zhasa sits next to him.
ZHASA: You've been beating yourself up for the past few days John.
John turns to her.
JOHN: Z, I wasn't able to defend Kyle from the Admiralty and give them our side of the mission.
ZHASA: I understand that Captain Towe was aboard.
JOHN: Yeah, I wanted to explain to her what happened but she's still frustrated at me about what happened to Kyle.
Zhasa pats his back.
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
The Enterprise docked at the Federation dockyard.
INT. MAIN ENGINEERING, USS ENTERPRISE
The engineering repair teams are working on the open panels repairing some of the burnt out relays from the battle.
ENS. PAYNE: We're almost finished here Commander.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: That's good Harris keep me posted.
She gets up from the floor.
BRANDON: Those Romulan bastards must of done a real number on the Enterprise?
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Not too bad it could of been worse if we didn't have our shields at full power.
NATALIE: You're a brilliant engineer Stephanie.
LCDR. WILLIAMS: Thanks but the real brilliant engineer was Commander Kyle Clarkson.
BRANDON: The man who destroyed that Wey'tahn colony?
LTJG. MASON: Which he wasn't the cause of it father.
BRANDON [scoffs]: He almost ruined our alliance with the Andorians.
Both Jack and Stephanie look at each other.
INT. DECK 9 CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
After having dinner with her daughter and son in law T'Roz walks to the airlock to enter the Federation dockyard, but then she's attacked by an unknown person and is stabbed by a Klingon dagger.
[T'ROZ GASPS] As the attacker drops her to the deck and leaves as a crewmen finds the Ambassador's aide.
ENS. JOHNSON [to com]: This is Ensign Johnson I've found Ambassador Sarek's aide she's been attacked I need a medical team to deck nine on the double!
He keeps pressure on the wound.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 2]
Act 3[]
FADE IN
INT. SURGICAL BAY/SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
[MEDICAL MONITORS BEEPING RAPIDLY] As a medical team attempts to save T'Roz.
DR. CARLSON: Vitals?
NURSE CHAPEL: Her vitals are through the roof blood pressure is 120/80 and dropping!
DR. CARLSON: Give me 10ccs of lectrazine.
She hands him the hypo and he injects T'Roz with the meds.
DR. CARLSON: How's her vitals now?
NURSE PARKER: Her vitals are still dropping!
DR. CARLSON: Damn it! Cortical stimulators.
Nurse Parker hands him the device as he places them on her head.
DR. CARLSON: Increase to 40 millijoules clear.
T'Roz jolts.
[STEADY TONE] As Chapel looks at the medical screen then back at Doctor Carlson.
NURSE CHAPEL: Her vitals have dropped she's gone.
DR. CARLSON: No damn it! Give me 20ccs of Anphedrin!
Christine gets the vial and loads a hypo and hands it to Steven who's determined not to let T'Roz die in his sickbay.
[T'ROZ GASPS]
NURSE CHAPEL: Vitals are returning to normal Doctor you've done it.
DR. CARLSON [smiles]: Yeah, but she's not out of the woods yet give her a full medical work up.
NURSE PARKER: Yes, Doctor.
Doctor Carlson EXITS the surgical bay.
INT. OUTSIDE SURGICAL BAY/SICKBAY, USS ENTERPRISE
Doctor Carlson walks over to both Captain Branson and Commander Ivanova.
CPT. BRANSON: How's she doing Steven?
DR. CARLSON: She's out of the jaws of death for now but it'll be touch and go for awhile I've already informed Starfleet medical we'll move her there tomorrow.
CPT. BRANSON: Keep me posted Steven.
DR. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Both John and Zhasa EXITS sickbay.
INT. DECK SEVEN CORRIDOR, USS ENTERPRISE
Both Captain Branson and Commander Ivanova walks to the nearest turbolift.
CPT. BRANSON: Have a security team posted at Sickbay to make sure whoever attacked T'Roz doesn't make another attempt.
LCDR. IVANOVA: Aye, sir.
[COM CHIRPS] As Lieutenant Mason comes over the com panel.
LTJG. MASON [com voice]: Mason to Branson
Captain Branson toggles the com panel.
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson here go ahead.
LTJG. MASON [com voice]: We've tracked the attacker to Cargo bay 2
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Have a security team meet me at Cargo bay 2.
LTJG. MASON [com voice]: Aye, sir
John ends the com chat and heads to cargo bay 2.
INT. CARGO BAY 2, USS ENTERPRISE
[CARGO BAY DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Captain Branson and a security team wearing tactical vests armed with type-3 phaser rifles.
CPT. BRANSON: Spread out.
They spread out and search for the attacker but then John's stunned and falls backwards into a container and falls to the deck as the attacker is revealed to be a Klingon agent.
[BLACKOUT, END OF ACT 3]
Act 4[]
FADE IN
INT. CARGO BAY 2, USS ENTERPRISE
John lays on the deck as the Klingon warrior paces about.
KLINGON WARRIOR: Your Federation is weak and we will destroy them!
CPT. BRANSON: But why kill a Vulcan Ambassador aide?
The warrior kneels next to John.
KLINGON WARRIOR [snarls]: Because Earther you are weak and will die with honor.
Then he's shot as Lieutenant Mason and a security team enters.
LTJG. MASON: It's all right sir we've got you.
John nods.
INT. BRIG CELL 4/BRIG AREA, USS ENTERPRISE
The Klingon sits on the cot.
DR. CARLSON: I've analyzed his weapon it matches the same one that stabbed T'Roz.
CPT. BRANSON: How's T'Roz?
DR. CARLSON: She's responding well to treatment if I wasn't married to T'Lar and learned Vulcan medical treatment she's be dead right now.
Then the Klingon warrior gets up from the cot.
KLINGON WARRIOR: Release me.
CPT. BRANSON: Not a chance.
Then the Klingon warrior staggers back a bit as he starts foaming at the mouth.
Doctor Carlson disengages the force field and enters with Lieutenant Mason who has his phaser out at the ready.
CPT. BRANSON: Steven?
DR. CARLSON [surprised]: He's dead John.
[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC] As both Branson and Mason are shocked.
EXT. EARTH ORBIT, SOL SYSTEM [OPTICAL]
Repairs to the Enterprise are completed.
INT. TRANSPORTER ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
Jack hugs his parents.
JACK: I am glad that you two came aboard.
BRANDON: Same here son.
NATALIE: We love you.
They walk onto the pad.
JACK: Energize.
Chief Mackenzie engaged the transporter system and both Masons dematerailized.
INT. CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM/SITUATION ROOM, USS ENTERPRISE
John looks at the schematics of the Enterprise.
[READY ROOM DOORS CHIMED]
CPT. BRANSON: Come.
[READY ROOM DOORS WHOOSHED OPENED] As Jamie enters.
JOHN: Hey there.
Jamie walks over to him.
JAMIE: I want to apologize for being a bitch to you John its just that I miss Kyle and having him with me and my crew he was the best officer we had aboard the Harrison.
JOHN: Its all right Jamie we're all on edge after what happened to Kyle.
[COM CHIRPS] As Commander Ivanova comes over the com.
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: Bridge to Branson
CPT. BRANSON [to com]: Branson here go ahead Z.
LCDR. IVANOVA [com voice]: John, we've received a distress call from the Earth Cargo Service vessel ECS Jamestown
Both John and Jamie look at each other.
