Starbase Sigma Nine is a Federation starbase in the 24th century located in the Gun Nebula in the Beta Quadrant. Starbase Sigma Nine is a first prototype next generation spacedock design to be bigger and far larger than current generation spacedocks. With long term purpose to suit the coming age of far larger and more advance Federation vessels design to come into service into the decades to come. With the purpose as a launch platform and proper support base for Federation explorer fleets into the unexplored regions of the Beta Quadrant.
