The Sydney class is a technologically advanced type of starship utilised by Starfleet during the 23rd century.
History[]
Technical data[]
Propulsion[]
FTL[]
The class is equipped with an advanced warp drive system powered by a matter x antimatter reactor. It utilises the Alcubierre concept ie: compressing space-time around the exterior.
- The cruising speed is warp 5 while maximum was warp factor 6.7.
Sub-light[]
These ships possessed a impulse drive system which was essentially a assembly of augmented fusion rockets, consisting of one or more fusion reactors, a coil assembly, and vectored thrust nozzles to direct the plasma exhaust.
Life support[]
- Oxygen generators
- Inertia dampeners
- Gravity plating
- Heat shield
- Radiation shield
Tactical[]
- Tractor beam generators: The class featured multiple tractor beam emitters; one forward, one ventral, and one rear. These can project beams of attenuated gravity at a target thus allowing the manipulation of its trajectory.
Weapon systems[]
Phasers[]
The class is armed with multiple phaser emitter arrays that fire pulsed beams of nadion radiation particle discharge at a target.
Torpedoes[]
It is secondly armed with two torpedo launchers; one forward and one rear. These shoot out self-propelled torpedoes each equipped with photon warheads.
Defensive systems[]
- Deflector shields: It boasted a high-capacity shield grid to protect itself from various threats, such as impacts from bolides and debris, various space-related and energetic phenomena and hostile weaponry.
Design[]
The class was known to operate in two configurations. The standard transport arrangement featured two warp nacelles held on pylons to either side of the ship. In the more prestigious configuration the nacelles were placed more discretely at the rear of the underside of the ship, although the pylons from the standard arrangement were still present, looking more like small wings.
Energy generation[]
The vessel is powered via multiple sources including; an Anti-Matter x Matter drive which generated enormous amounts of power through explosive collisions releasing pure light (energy) which is then harnessed directly into FTL and several other systems and regulated through a matrix of magnets and dilithium.
