- "I’m detecting a foreign object traveling at point-nine-nine-nine the speed of light ... and it’s coming this way."
- — Rodney McKay
The Tria was an Aurora-class ship built during the height of the Lantean-Wraith war.
History[]
During a battle with Wraith cruisers, the ship was damaged, and they received word that the Lanteans had left Atlantis via Stargate for Earth. Unable to rejoin their fellow Lanteans by Stargate, the crew modified their hyperdrive to make the intergalactic trip, and the Tria began the long trek to the Milky Way galaxy. Halfway through the trip, their hyperdrive failed irreparably. Unable to turn back, the crew used their sublight drive powered by a ZPM to travel at 99.9% the speed of light. Traveling at this speed, they would only experience a few years due to relativity which could be further lessened through stasis.

10,000 years later, as the Federation were testing the new sensors on the Daedalus, the crew of the Daedalus discovered the vessel. When the Tria scanned the vessel and learned of its data on hyperdrive, they made contact and requested assistance in the form of hyperspace travel.
The Daedalus transported its crew back to Starbase Atlantis while the Tria itself was left in the galactic void. (SGA: "The Return, Part 1")

Behind the scenes[]
- The word Tria is the Greek word for three. This may not be a coincidence, as the Tria was the third encountered Aurora-class vessel in the series.
- Josseph Mallozzi's stated on his blog that the Tria is, to this day, floating in the galactic void between the Milky Way and Pegasus as an "interesting museum piece".
- Since the Tria was left in the void near Midway, the Tauri may have made use of it, such as studying the systems of the Aurora-class vessels or as a source of drones for Atlantis.
