A type-2 phaser or phaser pistol was a typical hand-held directed-energy weapon used by Imperial Starfleet and Terran Empire personnel during the 23rd and 24th centuries. The phaser pistol fired discharges of red bolts of concentrated energy, the phaser pistol also had a rapid fire mode.
