The USS Corbulo (NCC-631) was a Rome-class starship flotilla leader in service with Starfleet in the mid-23rd century. It was the second Starfleet vessel to be named Corbulo.

Early service history[]

The USS Corbulo was the second Rome-class flotilla leader. The Corbulo was completed at the Copernicus Ship Yards on Luna in 2246 and following builder's trials was accepted in to Starfleet service the following year under the command of Captain Jamie Brocke.

Orion privateers[]

For an eight month period between between the end of 2247 and early 2248 the Corbulo was actively involved in combating the Orion privateers known as the Brothers of Greishan. In its role as a flotilla leader the Corbulo led Starfleet Flotilla-7 (StarFlot-7) comprising of the Larson-class USS Tannenberg NCC-4303 and the Kestrel-class USS Aquila NCC-1408. StarFlot-7 was responsible for providing security to Federation traffic through the Trinian system.

The Sheliak dispute[]

The Sheliak

The Sheliak are quite xenophobic when it comes to humanoid species

Between 2247 and 2255, Starfleet became embroiled in a number of skirmishes with the forces of the non-humanoid Sheliak Corporate. Considered a "dispute" by Federation policymakers for fear of escalating the situation by calling it a war, Starfleet operations in the vicinity were very much akin to a military force on combat duty. The dispute was settled in 2255 by the signing of the Treaty of Armens but not before both sides lost a number of vessels.

Following completion of a refit in 2249 and a change of command with Captain Patrick "Paddy" Haldane assuming the captaincy, the Corbulo was dispatched to the Delos system located just four light years from Sheliak space. Haldane and his crew served as part of a Federation fleet under the command of Admiral T.H. Peters aboard his flagship, the recently launched Constitution-class USS Constellation NCC-1017.
