The USS Crusade (NCC-1589) is a Inquiry-class battleship constructed by the Federation Starfleet in the 24th century before the USS Zheng He.

The vessel was designed in cooperation by the Federation and Starfleet as they're working together to construct the most powerful ship within the Federation fleet. By arrangement, the Federation provided the design specifications and materials while Earth handled construction and financed the project in exchange for all of the advanced technical expertise they'd gain. The prototypes themselves were intended to be given to the Admiral as the first in a new fleet of battleships to bolster the existing Daedalus-class battlecruisers.
