The USS Equinox (NCC-72381-A) was a Federation starship, a Nova-class heavy scout in service to Starfleet in the 24th century. It was the second Federation ship to bear the name Equinox.

In 2394, Lieutenant Lessing took over the Nova class starship USS Equinox-A and decided to destroy the USS Voyager and the USS Intrepid-A in revenge aganist Kathryn Janeway and Kira. In the final battle that took place between the USS Equinox-A, USS Voyager and the USS Intrepid-A, Lieutenant Lessing was killed when he refused to stand down after 40 seconds when the Intrepid-A fired 4 quantum torpedoes that destroyed the USS Equinox-A.
