The USS Pasteur (NCC-58925) was a Federation Olympic-class rescue/hospital ship starship in service in the 24th and 25th centuries. The Pasteur was named for a Human doctor and medical scientist of history, Louis Pasteur. (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Player's Guide; STO mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
History[]
The Pasteur was purpose built as a hospital ship, and underwent construction at the Marin County Starfleet Yards on Earth by the yard's Skywalker Division. (The Official Starships Collection Issue 42: "USS Pasteur NCC-58925")
This hospital ship was named after previous vessels, the 23rd century USS Pasteur, fellow hospital ship the M'Benga-class USS Pasteur, and finally the Nebula-class USS Pasteur. (TOS - Year Four comic: "Issue 6"; FASA RPG module: Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual; ST video game: Armada II)
In the year 2385, Beverly Crusher became the captain of the vessel. Pasteur's first mission under the command of Crusher was to help the Cardassians on Cardassia Prime in rebuilding medical facilities. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)
The Pasteur was working for the Cardassian Ministry of Science when its crew developed a cure for the Yarim Fel Syndrome. (STO mission: "History 102: Alpha Quadrant Midterm")
Following the Undine attack on the Sol system in early 2410, the Pasteur was posted as part of a permanent Starfleet fleet guarding Earth Spacedock. (STO video game: Delta Rising)
Anti-time 2395[]
In an alternate reality caused by an anti-time rift, the Pasteur was commanded by Captain Beverly Picard in 2395. In that year, Captain Picard agreed to take her ex-husband, Jean-Luc Picard, along with Geordi La Forge and Data, into the Romulan Neutral Zone to look for a spatial anomaly. While searching, the Pasteur was attacked and destroyed by Klingon warships, but the crew were rescued by Admiral William T. Riker and the refit USS Enterprise-D. (TNG episode, novelization & comic adaptation: All Good Things...)
