Lieutenant T'Lar inputs commands into her console running scans and then reports.

LT. T'LAR: It appears to be Kemocite ore.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Why are they doing this?

CAPT. BRANSON: Who knows Una but we can't allow it as soon as they're finished we'll catch them by surprise.

LTJG. MASON: Commander here's the master of the vessel.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: How many days have you been mining in this sector?

The master puts up four fingers.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Four days? Where is your mother ship? The big vessel. You don't know? Or you won't tell me?

LTJG. MASON: Commander these engines should be repaired but it can only make warp 1.9.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Thanks Jack what do we got here?

Lieutenant Mason checks the cargo containers.

LTJG. MASON: We've got about two kilos of kemocite ore.

INT-CARGO VESSEL COMPARTMENT

Lieutenant Commander Chin-Riley gets out her communicator and flips it open as it beeps.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): Chin-Riley to Enterprise.

CAPT. BRANSON (com voice): Enterprise here go ahead

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): We've got about 200 kilo of shark fin here. But the crew are too frightened to talk to us.

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE

Captain Branson is standing in front of the viewer.

CAPT. BRANSON (to com): Is the vessel worthy for towing, Una?

INT-CARGO VESSEL COMPARTMENT

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): Yes, sir it is.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE

CAPT. BRANSON (to com): I've spoken to Commodore Kirk he's approved of the towing of vessel, let them know they'll be brought aboard our vessel and put in secure quarters.

INT-CARGO VESSEL MAIN COMPARTMENT

Una walks over to the cargo captain.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Under the Federation Free Cargo Management Act, we are seizing this vessel and your catch. Your vessel will be towed back to port for further investigation. We need to see some papers.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE

Captain Branson walks back to his command chair as Ensign Carlson turns to him.

ENS. CARLSON: Do you ever feel sorry for them?

CAPT. BRANSON (nods): Personally, yeah. They're the bottom of the food chain, just trying to feed their families. Course, what they've done is illegal, but the real scumbags are on that mother ship.

Then Julia turns to him.

LTJG. SMITH: John, I don't want to be presumptuous, sir, but I could try and find out what you want to know.

CAPT. BRANSON: You know their language Julia?

LTJG. SMITH (nods): Yeah, I picked up a few phrases when I was being taught by Professor Uhura back home at the Academy.

CAPT. BRANSON: Alright go I'll let Commander Chin-Riley know you're on your way.

She leaves her station and head to the turbo-lift and enters it to head to the transporter room.

CUT TO:
INT-CARGO VESSEL MAIN COMPARTMENT

Lieutenant Smith is speaking to them in their language.

LTJG. MASON: Never knew that Julia learned to speak Swahili.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Well sometimes Jack you just have to pick up some new things along the way.

Julia walks over to them.

LTJG. SMITH: He spilled the beans on the mother ship. It's called the 'Coral Emperor'.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Way to go Julia.

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTERPRISE SITUATION ROOM

The monitor shows Federation Space and Klingon Space.

LTJG. SMITH: The cargo Captain wasn't vague but he said it could be in these three sectors of Federation Space.

Captain Branson sits at the head of the table.

CAPT. BRANSON: That could be anywhere in Federation Space, and if they enter Klingon Space we can't follow them due to the Neutral Zone treaty we signed with them.

LTJG. MASON: By force.

CAPT. BRANSON: True but so far we've only had a few skirmishes with them then we had in the past.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Well if we got them then let's go after them.

CAPT. BRANSON: We can't we got to tow that cargo vessel to the nearest Starbase, but we'll get them when the time comes that's a promise.

EXT-WARP TUNNEL

The Enterprise is at warp with the vessel in tow.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN ENGINEERING

Commander Williams is working on a few of the plasma conduits when she sees a faulty plasma injector.

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS (to herself): Well what do we got here.

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTERPRISE CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM

She puts it on the desk.

CAPT. BRANSON: What am I looking at?

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS: Its one of the plasma injectors for the warp drive its faulty.

CAPT. BRANSON: Can't you replace it with a spare?

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS: We used the spares in that last engagement with the Klingons.

Captain Branson isn't thrilled hearing that.

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS: We'll have to put in at the nearest Starbase for a complete overhaul and resupply.

CAPT. BRANSON (sighs): Alright.

EXT-SOL SYSTEM

The Enterprise emerges from warp with the cargo vessel in tow and approaches Starbase 1 near Jupiter at least 1 AU from Earth's door step, the Enterprise docks as two patrol shuttles tow the cargo vessel to a different berth.

INT-STARBASE ONE COMMAND CENTER

Commodore James T. Kirk and his Aide Lieutenant Daryl Smith are looking at the screen.

COMM. KIRK: Sorry to hear about your engine issue.

CAPT. BRANSON: Its alright Jim I'm sure Commander Williams will have it repaired by the time we ship out.

COMM. KIRK: Let's hope she's as good as Scotty was when he was my chief engineer.

LT. SMITH: The USS Potemkin has managed to establish the location of the 'Coral Emperor'

CAPT. BRANSON: Get its position?

COMM. KIRK: Yeah, she's just there. Two point seven light-years inside the line.

CAPT. BRANSON: Have we been tasked yet?

COMM. KIRK: I was thinking of sending the Eagle she's the closest to the Emperor, and it would be great to see Captain Banner in action before his ship retires for the soon to be update.

CAPT. BRANSON: Really now they're going through with updating the heavy cruisers?

Kirk walks to his office as Captain Branson follows him as he explains it.

COMM. KIRK: Yeah ever since the M-5 disaster Starfleet Command thinks its about time we start updating our heavy cruisers, new warp drive system, new weaponry and new deflector systems as well as impulse engine updates the USS Excalibur was the first of many heavy cruisers to be upgraded.

INT-STARBASE ONE COMMODORE KIRK'S OFFICE

They enter and Kirk sits down behind the desk as John sits in front of the desk.

CAPT. BRANSON: Steph will have a field day with those upgrades.

COMM. KIRK: John the Enterprise is a long way away from getting those updates, Starfleet feels like they want to test them on the Excalibur before refitting the entire line of Constitution-class vessels.

CAPT. BRANSON: I'll speak with Steph about getting those injectors fixed.

He leaves Kirk's office.

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTEPRISE MAIN ENGINEERING

Commander Williams is working on the injectors assembly prepping for the new injector arrives, when Lieutenant Payne shows up with the new injector.

LTJG. PANYE: Here's the replacement injector Commander.

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS: Let's align it to match the other three injectors.

LTJG. PAYNE (Nods): Aye, ma'am.

They get to work.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM

Captain Branson is working on a few reports when the doors chimed.

CAPT. BRANSON: Come.

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS (re: PADD): I'm happy to report that the new plasma injector is working out perfectly.

She hands him the PADD.

CAPT. BRANSON (re: PADD): Its already installed?

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS (nods): The engineering team are aligning it with the others as we speak, we should be able to depart Starbase soon.

CAPT. BRANSON: Good job Steph I knew I could count on you and your team.

She leaves the ready room as Captain Branson brings up the Coral Emperor's schematics.

ENS. CARLSON: That's a big ship.

LTJG. MASON: And armed I'm reading twenty-seven phaser arrays on the aft section alone.

Captain Branson gets up from the Captain's chair.

CAPT. BRANSON: You know the old saying Jack the bigger they are the harder they fall.

Then T'Lar reports.

LT. T'LAR: Captain I am detecting a vessel coming up the port quarter of the Emperor.

CAPT. BRANSON: Show me.

The transparent viewer enhances the image of the other vessel.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Where the hell did THEY come from?

LTJG. SMITH: Saviors of the sector.

CAPT. BRANSON: You've heard of them?

LTJG. SMITH: Yeah they're responsible for destroying a ECS Cargo vessel last year but Jess never could track them down.

Transparent viewer shows the small vessel fire at the engines as they explode.

LT. T'LAR: The Emperor has lost main engines but they still got their impulse engines.

Transparent viewer shows the Emperor firing on the vessel punching through its deflectors and causing it to spin.

LT. T'LAR: The militant vessel has sustained heavy damage they have a engine core breach in progress.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: John we've got to assist them.

EXT-SPACE

The Enterprise approaches the damaged vessel.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

ENS. CARLSON: We're over the vessel now sir.

CAPT. BRANSON: Kara as soon as they're aboard back us away from the vessel.

ENS. CARLSON: Aye, sir.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE SICKBAY (RED ALERT)

Two people beam aboard as one is injured and the other one is alright, the medical staff takes the wounded militant guy to one of the bio-beds and lays him on it as Doctor Carlson scans him.

DR. CARLSON: Alright give him 3ccs of sedative for the pain and make sure you run the dermal regenerator over his burn.

NURSE CHAPEL: Aye, Doctor.

DR. CARLSON (to com): Bridge we got them.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

CAPT. BRANSON (to com): Acknowledge Steven Kara back us off.

ENS. CARLSON: Aye, sir.

She inputs commands into the helm station.

EXT-SPACE

The Enterprise moves away from the drifting vessel as it explodes into a thousand pieces.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE SICKBAY (RED ALERT)

Lieutenant Mason is checking the other guy for weapons or any other foreign stuff that shouldn't be on a Federation vessel.

LTJG. MASON: You're clear.

DR. CARLSON (re: Medical Tricorder): You seem find no wounds or bruises other then a bruised ego.

LTJG. MASON: What's your name?

DAVID: David Thompson.

DR. CARLSON: Well David you seem to have dodged a bad situation on your vessel.

He just looks at his comrade.

LTJG. MASON: You're welcome.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

LT. T'LAR: Captain there seems to be something wrong with the Emperor.

Captain Branson walks over to the science station.

CAPT. BRANSON: What is it?

LT. T'LAR: The Coral Emperor is only making one-half impulse speed.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Maybe those guys did some damage to it.

Then Steven enters.

CAPT. BRANSON: How's our guests Steven.

DR. CARLSON: The first guy had some second to third degree burns but he'll make a full recovery.

CAPT. BRANSON: Good work and the other one?

DR. CARLSON: Nothing is wrong with him sir if you count for the attitude problem.

CAPT. BRANSON: Attitude problem?

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTERPRISE GUEST QUARTERS

Doors opened and Captain Branson entered.

CAPT. BRANSON: I'm John Branson Captain of this vessel I hear that you've got an attitude issue?

DAVID: Yeah. I need to use your com system. I need to let my crew know that I've lost my ship.

CAPT. BRANSON: Well, Mr. Thompson, your actions were recklessly dangerous, and you disrupted a Federation operation. You realize a hawser could rip the drive shaft right off the ship and leave a gaping hole under its plasma injector line.

DAVID: That vessel is a death star to every cargo vessel within fifty-seven light-years and your mighty Federation won't do a damn thing about it.

CAPT. BRANSON: So that's why you decided to take it upon yourselves to attack these vessels?

DAVID: So you're just going to keep me from contacting my crew?

CAPT. BRANSON: Let me think yes I am because you don't deserve to contact them, but you're happy to use the ship's replicator system to get you whatever you need.

Captain Branson leaves the quarters as Lieutenant Mason remains.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

Captain Branson walks onto the bridge.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: You alright John?

CAPT. BRANSON: Saviours of the Sea are thugs. They're the ones we should be rounding up and dragging back to base for investigation.

ENS. CARLSON: Sir, the Emperor has come to a complete stop I think her hull must be breached. I'm detecting a breach on her port quarter where the militant vessel struck with its weapons.

Transparent viewer shows the damage.

CAPT. BRANSON: That's not good how long till the hull breaches?

LT. T'LAR: Cannot say for certain but it could be soon.

CAPT. BRANSON (sighs): That's what I was afraid of. We'll have to board her, bring her crew over to 'Enterprise' You ready, Una?

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: On my way.

CAPT. BRANSON Una be careful.

She nods and Una, Jack, T'Lar, and Smith enter the turbo-lift.

CUT TO:
INT-CORAL EMPEROR MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

Smoke is everywhere as wires are hanging down and fires a plumping as the landing party materializes onboard, Doctor Carlson goes to a wounded person but looks over at Commander Chin-Riley and shakes his head they continue over to more wounded people.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: I'm Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley of the Federation Starship USS Enterprise, you and your crew will be brought aboard our vessel and your ship will be destroyed by our vessel and your cargo destroyed as well Julia you think he understands me?

LTJG. SMITH: I'm not sure Commander.

Then he gets out a Klingon Daqtagh and grabs Julia and puts it to her neck, as Lieutenant Mason quickly reacts by getting out his phaser and it powers up as they're walking back.

CORAL EMPEROR CAPTAIN: (Shouts in foreign language)

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: What is he saying?

LTJG. SMITH (breathing heavily): He says he doesn't want to leave his vessel.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Julia remain calm.

LTJG. SMITH (heavy breathing): Commander you're not the one with a Klingon knife to your neck right now, (yells a command in foreign language repeatedly)

The guy then releases Julia drops the dagger and drops to his knees and sobs.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: What did you say to him?

LTJG. SMITH: I asked him if he wanted to see his kids again.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: How did you know that he had kids?

Julia picks up a holographic photo of his wife and kids as Una is surprised.

EXT-FEDERATION SPACE

The Enterprise is next to the Coral Emperor.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE SITUATION ROOM

ENS. CARLSON: I was able to download the Emperor's course and speed they appear to have been on this course for a base somewhere along the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone border.

Monitor shows the Emperor's course.

CAPT. BRANSON: How could they get by Federation outposts along the Klingon Neutral Zone border?

LTCMDR. WILLIAMS: So far the Emperor's hull has been patched but we're not sure if it will hold.

CAPT. BRANSON: What's the status of our guests?

DR. CARLSON: So far they're perfectly healthy.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE GUEST QUARTERS

Lieutenant Mitchell is guarding David Thompson while Lieutenant Mason is on the landing party.

DAVID (annoyed): You can't keep me cooped up like this. I feel sick.

TYSON: I'm afraid that's not really our priority at the moment. We've got our hands kind of full rescuing people from the boat you idiots tried to scuttle, so

DAVID: Hey, jerk, they destroyed my vessel and nearly killed my mate!

TYSON (sighs): Look, mate, I'm a greenie myself, alright? So I can understand where you're coming from. I mean, I don't condone what they're doing but you are taking this protest way too far.

DAVID: We risk our necks saving whales and sharks.

TYSON: That's fine. That's your choice. But you mess with other people's lives that's a different matter.

DAVID: That's the risk they're taking.

TYSON: Too bad if they all drown, huh?

DAVID: Yeah, you got it. I guess you've got to wear the consequences. Sermon finished?

TYSON: Yeah.

DAVID: Good. 'Cause I'm about to spew my guts up.

Tyson hands him a bag.

TYSON: Do your best.

He leaves in frustration David leaves the quarters without an escort.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MESS HALL

David enters it as the Coral Emperor crew are being well fed as the Captain sees him and goes over to him, and they start fighting as a security team rushes over to break it up.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Stand down now.

Una gets struck with an elbow as Jack gets out his phaser and shoots both men stunning them, as he goes over to Una.

LTJG. MASON: Commander you alright?

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Yeah its just a scratch.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE BRIG AREA

Captain Branson enters and walks over to one of the cells.

CAPT. BRANSON: What were you doing on deck I ordered you to remain in your quarters till we arrived at one of our bases.

DAVID: I needed to take a walk.

CAPT. BRANSON: So you just happened to stumble into the mess hall where the Coral Emperor's crew would be at?

David walks over to the force field.

DAVID: Let's get one thing straight Captain I don't like that the mighty Federation sits back and does nothing to these people who destroy lives of Cargo vessels.

CAPT. BRANSON: We were busy preventing a war with the Klingons and recovering from the M-5 disaster do you guys not watch FNS?

DAVID: When my vessel doesn't return, my crew are going to come looking for me. And when they do, I hope they sink that ship.

LTJG. MASON: So you want to go after them?

CAPT. BRANSON: Not exactly go after them Jack.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Then what are you wanting to do?

CAPT. BRANSON: The Enterprise will lay low in a nearby nebula that will shield us from their sensors, and when they approach the vessel to destroy it we'll warp in and take them by surprise.

LTJG. SMITH: I hate to mention a dirty word, sir, but what about Starfleet Command?

CAPT. BRANSON: I'll take full responsibility for this one.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: We're all with you on this one John.

Doors opened and Commander Chin-Riley, Lieutenant Junior Grades Mason and Mitchell as well as Doctor Carlson show up in regular clothes.

CAPT. BRANSON: Julia was able to adjust the communication frequencies of these communicators to cut through the nebula we'll be hiding in, so hopefully we can hear you and you can hear us.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Thank you sir.

The team steps onto the pad.

LTJG. MITCHELL: I look dumb.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Well if you were watching Mister Thompson then you wouldn't be on this assignment energize.

Chief Mackenzie inputs commands and activates the transporter.

INT-CORAL EMPEROR MAIN BRIDGE (BATTLE DAMAGED)

The trio materializes onboard the vessel.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY: Keep a good lookout for the militants. Remember, they'll be able to see us long before we spot them, so it's important we maintain the advantage of surprise. Jack?

LTJG. MASON: Alright then Tyson you take starboard Steven you'll take port I want these guys to know that we are here.

They split up.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): Chin-Riley to Enterprise we're aboard the vessel now the damage is bad but we appear to have room to walk around.

CUT TO:
INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE

CAPT. BRANSON (to com): Branson here go ahead.

INT-CORAL EMPEROR MAIN BRIDGE

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): Sir, we're going to have to abort. There's no sign of the militants, and we'll be requiring EVA suits soon.

INT-USS ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE

CAPT. BRANSON (to com): Maybe they've abandoned their crew. We're on our way.

CUT TO:
INT-CORAL EMPEROR MAIN BRIDGE

LTJG. MITCHELL: Commander we've got something it appears to be the Militant vessel bearing 215 mark 9.

LTCMDR. CHIN-RILEY (to com): Enterprise, Belay my last. We have a RHIB approaching with three POB. Operation Fish Hook is a goer. I say again, Operation Fish Hook is on.

CAPT. BRANSON: Alright Una we're on our way now.

INT-CORAL EMPEROR MAIN BRIDGE

The militant group beam aboard the vessel and survey the bridge, as they don't know that Una and her team are about to ambush them.

MILITANT MEMBER: David? John? you here?

Then Lieutenant Mason comes up from behind aiming his phaser at them as it powers up.

LTJG. MASON: Don't move.

Then both Lieutenant Mitchell and Doctor Carlson shows up and does the same thing.

Both Captain Branson and Commodore Kirk are in his office.

COMM. KIRK (annoyed): I know you wanted Enterprise to go out in a blaze of glory, but this stunt could be your court martial

CAPT. BRANSON: Jim, it was a good outcome, even if I did slip a little into the grey area.

COMM. KIRK: Grey area? You had the crew behaving like a bunch of undercover cops! And I don't think I need to remind YOU that this is Starfleet.

CAPT. BRANSON: No sir you don't need to remind me.

COMM. KIRK: At the risk of being accused of preferential treatment, I'm going to overlook this incident because of a whole bunch of factors I couldn't even be bothered listing. Now, get out of my sight before I change my mind!

CAPT. BRANSON: Yes, sir thank you sir.

John leaves his office as Kirk is a bit annoyed but smiles a bit.
