xB, short for ex-Borg, was a term used in the 2390s to refer to former members of the Borg Collective. They were considered the "most hated people in the galaxy," and were often hunted by criminals like Bjayzl who wanted to profit from their implants. According to Hugh, an xB himself, the xBs were the most despised people in the galaxy. xBs were seen either as property to be exploited or hazards to be warehoused. However, the Romulan Free State had a more expansive vision for the xBs found at the Artifact, seeing them as both. (PIC episodes: "Maps and Legends", "The End is the Beginning")
In 2386, Icheb, by then a Starfleet lieutenant, had his Borg implants surgically removed while conscious. Seven of Nine, a fellow xB, arrived too late to save him, and euthanized him at his request. (PIC episode: "Stardust City Rag}")
